The Feast of St Pious Paraskeva

The day of October 14th represents for the city of Iași, and also for the entire Romanian Orthodoxy, a feast of spiritual joy, of living and confessing faith, and a witness of the love of the Romanian People for the Saints and the Church of God.

This year, the pilgrims arriving to bow before the relics of St Pious Paraskeva can also venerate, beginning with 10 October 2015, the relics of the Holy Myrrbearer and Equal to the Apostles Mary Magdalene (placed in a reliquary also containing a fragment of the Precious Wood of the Holy Cross), brought from Simonopetras Monastery of Holy Mount Athos, as informed by the Press Office of the Archbishopric of Iași.

A fragment of the Precious Wood of the Holy Cross was also brought to Iași on the Feast of St Pious Paraskeva in the year 2004. On 11 October 2015, with the blessing of His Beatitude Daniel, Patriarch of Romania, will also be brought from Bucharest to be venerated in the Metropolitan Cathedral of Iași the relics of St John Chrysostom. To be mentioned that the Holy Synod of the Orthodox Romanian Orthodox Church declared the year 2015 a Commemorative year of St John Chrysostom and of the great spiritual shepherds in the Eparchies.

On 14 October 2015, the Divine Liturgy will be officiated on a stage located on Stephen the Great and Holy Ave, next to the altar of the Metropolitan Cathedral.
