The Chorus of the Patriarchal Cathedral Carolled His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel

On the first Christmas day, Nicolae Lungu chorus carolled at the Patriarchal Cathedral after the Divine Liturgy.

“This work is more than we imagine because music supports prayer. Blessed Augustin said that it is a sin if I like the music more than the text. In other words, the spiritual meaning is a priority and the tune wings it. The tune is the servant of the word. This is why in the Orthodox Church, in general, no instruments are allowed because once God the Word is incarnated nothing can intervene to express the word. Thus, just like the Psalter Group, the Chorus is the most beautiful confirmation of the Incarnation of God the Word. The spoken word is the word which addresses the human person directly”, explained His Beatitude, as Trinitas TV informs us.

His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel thanked the members of the chorus and offered them presents, according to tradition.

Over 200 years old, the Chorus of Romanian Patriarchate represents for the modern time our musical polyphonic evolution. The chorus’ music desk hosted outstanding names in the course of time who conducted and composed music. These artists have always brought new forms and directions in the evolution of the Romanian choral music and considered love for music, religion and society higher than anything else.
