August 2003 – Priest and theology professor CONSTANTIN GALERIU passed

away in Bucharest. Theological studies at “Saint George” Seminary of

Roman (1930 – 1935), continued at the Faculty of Theology of Bucharest

(1938 – 1942). In 1973 he was awarded the title of doctor in theology in

Bucharest. From 1973 – 1988, he climbed the steps of the university

education (reader, lecturer and professor) within the Theological

Institute /Faculty of Orthodox Theology of Bucharest, for: Basic

Theology, History of Religions, Catechetics with notions of Pedagogy and

Homiletics. From 1988 – 2003, he continued to work as counsellor

professor and supervisor for doctorate thesis within the same Faculty.

He served as priest in the county of Prahova (1943 – 1973) and in

Bucharest, at “Saint Silvestru” church (1975 – 2003); member of the

Commission for Orthodox – Reformed Dialogue on behalf of our Church,

vicar to the Archdiocese of Bucharest (since 1900). He was a political

prisoner from August 1952 – October 1953.

Bisericii’, “Mitropolia Olteniei’, “Mitropolia Banatului’. “Revista

pedagogică’) as well as in collective books; during the last decade of

the 20th century he was a permanent collaborator of the “România liberă”

newspaper.
