13 August 1893 – Archimandrite ANDRONIC POPOVICI (baptised Andrei Badea), historian and copyist passed away at the New Neamț Monastery. He joined Neamț Monastery while a young man (1931), became a monk in 1839, ordained hieromonk (1850), father confessor (1853) and archimandrite (1890). He was abbot of Sihăstria Monastery (1861), then of Secu. In 1864, he set up the New Neamț Monastery (Chițcani), county of Tighina, which he ran as an abbot. Although a self-taught man, he copied a large number of historical books and wrote The History of the Holy Monasteries of Neamț and Secu, in brief (Neamț, 1857) and Short history for the beginning of Christianity and of the hierarchy of Moldova (Neamț, 1864).
