The Patriarch of Romania Licensed Four Priests of the Archdiocese of Bucharest as Father Confessors

Friday, 21 February 2014, His Beatitude Daniel, Patriarch of the Romanian Orthodox Church licensed four priests of the Archdiocese of Bucharest as father confessors. The religious service was celebrated in the historical chapel of “Saint Great Martyr George” of the Patriarchal Residence.

To end with the celebration, His Beatitude Daniel delivered a sermon in which he spoke about the importance of confession for the spiritual life of the Christian: “Confession has a special significance during the present period because the Holy Synod of the Romanian Orthodox Church declared the year 2014 as Solemn year of the Holy Confession and Holy Eucharist. The present time precedes the beginning of the Lent, having been a period of intense preparation for confession, as preparation for resurrection. While repenting for the sins committed and telling them to the father confessor man gets rid of a tormenting past and starts resurrecting through the death of the sin. This is why the Resurrection is not only the universal one, at the end of time, when Christ, our Lord, comes to judge the living and the dead, but also a raising from the state of sin of every Christian. This is the spiritual resurrection”.

To end with, the Patriarch of Romania offered the priests licensed as father confessors the “Molitfelnic” book and a blessing cross.
