May 1859 – Theology professor BADEA CIREȘEANU (not ordained) was born

in Spineni, county of Olt. Lower Seminary in Argeș (1874 – 1878) and

Central in Bucharest (1879 – 1882), Faculty of Theology in Cernăuți

(1886 – 1890), with a doctor’s degree in 1891). Professor at the

Seminary in Curtea de Argeș (1883 – 1886), substitute professor (1891),

temporary (1892), then titular (1895) at the chair of liturgies,

pastoral, homiletics, and catechises at the Faculty of Theology of

Bucharest, when he worked till his death; dean of the Faculty (1913 –

1915), director of the Office of the Metropolitan See of Ungro-Wallachia

(1893 – 1896); he set up and supervised “Vocea Bisericii” magazine

(1894 – 1896); he made many travels of study to European countries and

to the Near East. His main work is “The liturgical treasure of the Holy

Orthodox Church of the East”, 3 volumes (1910 – 1912), with over 1200

pages; courses of catechetics and homiletics; studies and articles in

“Biserica Ortodoxă Română”. He passed away on 5 July 1919, in Bucahrest.
