7 August 1922 \u2013 Primate Metropolitan CONON AR\u0102MESCU-DONICI passed away<\/p>\n
in Bucharest. Studies at the Seminaries of Neam\u021b and Socola. He studied<\/p>\n
at the Faculty of Science and Philology of Ia\u0219i (graduated in 1877),<\/p>\n
later on at the Faculty of Theology of Cern\u0103u\u021bi (1880 \u2013 1885), where he<\/p>\n
was awarded a doctor\u2019s degree. Monk at Neam\u021b Monastery (1859) and<\/p>\n
ordained hierodeacon for Socola Monastery, later on hieromonk and<\/p>\n
protosingelos. Professor at the National Secondary School, then at the<\/p>\n
Normal Schools for boys and girls of Ia\u0219i (1877 \u2013 1880); after coming<\/p>\n
back from studies he worked at the Normal Schools too, at the Boarding<\/p>\n
Secondary School and at Veniamin Seminary. Ordained archmandrite and<\/p>\n
appointed preacher at the Metropolitan Cathedral of Ia\u0219i. In 1897 he is<\/p>\n
ordained hierarch, with the title of “B\u0103c\u0103oanul\u201d, Bishop locum tenens of<\/p>\n
Roman (July 1899 \u2013 February 1900), on 8 February 1902 elected Bishop of<\/p>\n
Hu\u0219i; on 14 February elected Primate Metropolitan of Romania \u2013 retired<\/p>\n
from the position on 1 January 1914. During his pastoral rule The<\/p>\n
Synodal Bible of 1914 was printed; during the German occupation from<\/p>\n
