The Divine Liturgy was celebrated here by His Grace Timotei Prahoveanul, Assistant Bishop to the Archdiocese of Bucharest, delegate of His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel, assisted by a group of priests and deacons.

His Grace delivered a sermon in which he said that the healing of the paralytic shows us the restoring work of Christ, our Saviour: “He confirmed his words with the man’s healing because nobody had ever heard of a paralysed man who could not walk and who was brought on a bed, to get up right away and walk. This thing shows us that Jesus Christ has come into the world to restore and save the fallen man. He came down into the world out of His endless love and took care of all those who needed restoration. He took good care of the man’s restoration and went back to God”.

In the end, His Grace spoke about the Icon of the Mother of God – Prodromite. “This icon of the Mother of God, called the Prodromite, is one of the icons not painted by human hand. This icon adorned, for a few months, the skete of the Romanian monks of Bucium, close to the city of Iasi, as well as a few churches of Husi, Barlad and Galati, on her way to Mount Athos. After 148 years since her miraculous painting in the city of Iasi, in 1863, the icon was painted once again with the blessing of His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel and insistence of Rt Rev Archimandrite Ciprian, and of several faithful who wanted to have the image of the Mother of God just like the one in the miraculous icon from Prodrom Skete of Mount Athos”.

During the Divine Liturgy, His Grace Timotei Prahoveanul ordained deacon Carciu Dragos – Mihai as priest for the parish of Filipesti de Targ, deanery of Campina, county of Prahova, and young theologian Vlad George as deacon for the parish of Radila, deanery of Ploiesti North, county of Prahova.

The faithful present today at the celebration of the dedication day of the chapel of the Cathedral of the Nation’s Salvation could pray to the icon of the Mother of God – Prodromite, which was taken out of the church and laid in the church porch.

The original icon of the Mother of God – Prodromite was miraculously painted in Iasi, in 1863, and taken to Mount Athos, becoming the protector of the Romanian Skete of Saint John the Baptist or Prodromu. The replica of the Icon of the Mother of God – Prodromite from the chapel of the Cathedral of the Nation’s Salvation was painted in the Panselinos workshop of Iasi and covered with metal in Greece.

It is a faithful life size replica of the miracle worker icon from Mount Athos, both in regard to painting and to its metal cover in silver and gilded in certain places, with the crowns of the Mother of God and of Christ, the Saviour, adorned with precious stones.

Today, 12 July 2015, hundreds of faithful attended the feast of the Chapel of the Cathedral of the Nation’s Salvation, which celebrated its saint patron the Mother of God – Prodromite.
