BIOGRAPHICAL\u00a0LIFE<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\" align=\"center\">He was born on 22 July 1951, to parents Alexe and Stela Ciobotea, in Dobre\u015fti village, Bara commune, county of Timi\u015f. He was baptised Dan-Ilie.<\/p>\n<p><strong>II. EDUCATION\u00a0AND PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1958 \u2013 1962 \u2013 he attends the primary school in his native village Dobre\u015fti, county of Timi\u015f<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>1962 \u2013 1966 \u2013 he attends the secondary school in L\u0103pu\u015fnic locality, county of Timi\u015f;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>1966 \u2013 he begins the high school studies in Buzia\u015f city, which he continues in Lugoj city, at \u201cCoriolan Brediceanu\u201d High School (1967 \u2013 1970);<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>1970 \u2013 1974 \u2013 he studies at the Orthodox University Theological Institute of Sibiu;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>1974 \u2013 1976 \u2013 he attends the doctorate courses at the Orthodox University Theological Institute of Bucharest, systematic section, under the supervision of Rev. Prof. Dr. Dumitru St\u0103niloae;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>1976 \u2013 1978 \u2013 he studies at the Faculty of Protestant Theology of the University of Humanistic Sciences of Strasbourg (France);<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>1978 \u2013 1980 \u2013 he studies at the Faculty of Catholic Theology of the \u201cAlbert Ludwig\u201d University of Freiburg im Breisgau (Germany);<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>15 June 1979 \u2013 maintains the doctorate thesis at the University of Strasbourg, entitled: R\u00e9flexion et vie chr\u00e9tiennes aujourd&#8217;hui. Essai sur le rapport entre la\u00a0th\u00e9ologie et la spiritualit\u00e9 (424 p).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>31 October 1980 \u2013 an extended version of this thesis, prepared under the supervision of Rev. Prof. Dr. Dumitru St\u0103niloae, is maintained at the Orthodox University Theological Institute of Bucharest, with the title: Christian Theology and Spirituality. Relation between them and the present situation;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>1980 \u2013 1988 \u2013 lecturer at the Ecumenical Institute of Bossey, Switzerland;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>6 August 1987 \u2013 he joins the monastic life at Sih\u0103stria Monastery, county of Neam\u0163, with the name of Daniel, Rev. Archimandrite Cleopa Ilie as monastic god father;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>14 August 1987 \u2013 he is ordained hierodeacon, and hieromonk on 15 August 1987;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>1988 \u2013 he is awarded protosingel and appointed patriarchal counsellor, director of the Department for \u201cContemporary Theology and Ecumenical Dialogue\u201d;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>1988 \u2013 he becomes Christian Mission senior lecturer at the Orthodox University Theology Institute of Bucharest;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>12 February 1990 \u2013 elected Assistant Bishop to the Archdiocese of Timi\u015foara, with the title of Lugojanul, and on 4 March 1990 he is ordained hierarch at the Metropolitan Cathedral;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>7 June 1990 \u2013 elected Archbishop of Ia\u015fi and Metropolitan of Moldova and Bucovina;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>1 July 1990 \u2013 enthroned Archbishop of Ia\u015fi and Metropolitan of Moldova and Bucovina;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>1992 \u2013 2007 \u2013Dogmatic and Pastoral Theology professor at the Faculty of Orthodox Theology of \u201cDumitru St\u0103niloae\u201d of Ia\u015fi;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>12 September 2007 \u2013 elected as Archbishop of Bucharest, Metropolitan of Muntenia and Dobrudgea and Patriarch of the Romanian Orthodox Church;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>30 September 2007 \u2013 enthroned as Patriarch in the Patriarchal Cathedral of Bucharest;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>From 2007 he has been Pastoral Theology professor at the Faculty of Orthodox Theology of \u201cPatriarch Justinian\u201d of Bucharest.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>III.
