{"id":171434,"date":"2017-07-14T11:35:11","date_gmt":"2017-07-14T08:35:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/basilica.ro\/?p=171434\/"},"modified":"2017-07-14T11:47:31","modified_gmt":"2017-07-14T08:47:31","slug":"schedule-for-glorification-of-st-mardarije-of-libertyville-and-all-america-announced","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arhiva.basilica.ro\/en\/schedule-for-glorification-of-st-mardarije-of-libertyville-and-all-america-announced\/","title":{"rendered":"Schedule for glorification of St. Mardarije of Libertyville and All-America announced"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"os\" data-enum=\"p3\" data-field=\"paragraph\">The schedule for the upcoming ceremonies surrounding the official glorification of St. Mardarije of Libertyville and All-America on July 14-16 is now available on the\u00a0site\u00a0of the Serbian Orthodox Church, as well as the\u00a0site\u00a0of St. Sava Monastery in Libertyville, where his incorrupt relics lie.<\/p>\n<p class=\"os\" data-enum=\"p4\" data-field=\"paragraph\">The event is expected to be a pan-Orthodox event, \u201creflecting our unity in Faith and common witness in this country,\u201d\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.stsavamonastery.org\/2017\/07\/07\/saint-mardarije-glorification-to-be-pan-orthodox-in-nature\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">according to<\/a>\u00a0the Diocese of New Gracanica and Midwestern America. In addition to His Holiness Patriarch Irinej of Serbia, other hierarchs and representatives of other Local Churches will also take part in the celebration, including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"os\" data-enum=\"p4\" data-field=\"paragraph\">His Grace Bishop Anthony of Toledo and the Midwest (Antiochian),<\/li>\n<li class=\"os\" data-enum=\"p4\" data-field=\"paragraph\">His Eminence Archbishop Nikodim of Northern Donetsk and Starobel\u2019skii (Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate),<\/li>\n<li class=\"os\" data-enum=\"p4\" data-field=\"paragraph\">His Eminence Archbishop Peter of Chicago and Mid-America (ROCOR)<\/li>\n<li class=\"os\" data-enum=\"p4\" data-field=\"paragraph\">His Eminence Metropolitan Antonii of Vani and Baghdati (Georgian),<\/li>\n<li class=\"os\" data-enum=\"p4\" data-field=\"paragraph\">His Eminence Metropolitan Sava of America (Georgian),<\/li>\n<li class=\"os\" data-enum=\"p4\" data-field=\"paragraph\">His Eminence Metropolitan Nicolae of the Americas (Romanian),<\/li>\n<li class=\"os\" data-enum=\"p4\" data-field=\"paragraph\">His Beatitude Metropolitan Tikhon of Washington and<\/li>\n<li class=\"os\" data-enum=\"p4\" data-field=\"paragraph\">His Grace Bishop Paul of Chicago and the Midwest (OCA).<\/li>\n<li class=\"os\" data-enum=\"p4\" data-field=\"paragraph\">Bishop Theodosy of Seattle (ROCOR)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"os\" data-enum=\"p5\" data-field=\"paragraph\">The weekend will begin with a symposium on \u201cThe Life and Times of St. Mardarije,\u201d to be held at\u00a0Holy Resurrection Serbian Orthodox Cathedral\u00a0in Chicago. Presentations include \u201cRussia in Mardarije\u2019s Time: From Reform to Abyss\u201d by Srdja Trifkovic, PhD, \u201cReflection on the Newly Published Memoires of Bishop Mardarije\u201d by Nicholas Groves, PhD, and \u201cSt. Mardarije&#8217;s Russian Context: Reflections on Intellectual and Religious Developments in Late Imperial Society\u201d by Nicholas Ganson, PhD, to be followed by Vespers, dinner, and the keynote address, \u201cSt. Mardarije: Wondrous is God in His Saints\u201d by His Eminence Metropolitan Amphilohije of Montenegro and the Littoral.<\/p>\n<p class=\"os\" data-enum=\"p6\" data-field=\"paragraph\">\u201cThis Symposium will be a fitting start to the Glorification weekend because it will show the times and events that shaped the life of St. Mardarije, how he was in dialogue with them, but also how he responded to them and attained that true measure of purpose which is sainthood,\u201d said His Grace Bishop Longin.<\/p>\n<p class=\"os\" data-enum=\"p7\" data-field=\"paragraph\">The weekend continues on Saturday at the\u00a0New Gracanica Serbian Orthodox Monastery\u00a0in Lake Villa, Illinois, with the celebration of the hierarchical Divine Liturgy, an oratorical festival, lunch, and the glorification Vigil for St. Mardarije at 5:00 PM.<\/p>\n<p class=\"os\" data-enum=\"p8\" data-field=\"paragraph\">Finally, on Sunday, the glorification Divine Liturgy will be celebrated by His Holiness Patriarch Irinej of Serbia at St. Sava Monastery, where worshipers will have the opportunity to venerate the incorrupt relics of St. Mardarije. The Liturgy will be followed by a banquet for hierarchs and honored quests and a picnic style lunch for all pilgrims, with the glorification program beginning at 2:30, and traditional Serbian festivities at 4:00.<\/p>\n<p class=\"os\" data-enum=\"p9\" data-field=\"paragraph\">***<\/p>\n<p class=\"os\" data-enum=\"p10\" data-field=\"paragraph\">St. Mardarije labored tirelessly in America, and personally founded the St. Sava Monastery where he was buried after his repose on December 12, 1935. The Holy Synod of the Serbian Orthodox Church added his name to the diptych of saints on the Church\u2019s calendar at its May 29, 2015 meeting.
