Romania\u2019 photo album published by the Orthodox Diocese of Warsaw won first place in \u201cBest Illustrated Book\u201d Category at the 12<sup>th<\/sup> edition of the <em>Illumination through books<\/em> contest held in Moscow on Nov. 2.<\/p>\n<p>This year\u2019s contest took place at Sergievsky Hall, Christ the Saviour Cathedral in Moscow, reports orthodox.pl.<\/p>\n<p>This competition has been organized with the blessing of Russian Patriarch Kirill since 2005. Partners for the current edition included the Russian Orthodox Church and the Restek Exhibition Company. The Federal Agency for Press and Mass Media of the Russian Government also supported the event.<\/p>\n<p>The main purpose of the contest is to promote the latest religious, historical, patriotic and tourist publications, as well as religious literature for children and young people.<\/p>\n<p>The prize ceremony was attended by approximatively 150 people, including Metropolitan Clement of Kaluga and Borovsk, chairman of the Council of Publications of the Moscow Patriarchate, representatives of the Restek Company, of the Federal Agency for Press and Mass Media, as well as the rector of the Moscow State University of Printing Art.<\/p>\n<p>This year, 150 volumes were submitted for eleven nominations, of which experts selected more than 50 publications. The grand prize was awarded to Andrei Batalov for his volume \u201cCathedral of the Intercession of the\u00a0Most Holy\u00a0Theotokos on the\u00a0Moat. Architectural historiography and iconography.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The \u201cColours of Orthodoxy. Romania\u201d album was created in collaboration with OrthPhoto.net and it is the fifth volume in a series of publications that promote the beauty and diversity of Orthodoxy in different parts of the world.<\/p>\n<p>This is the 9<sup>th<\/sup> prize awarded to the Polish Orthodox Church in its 8 years of participation in this competition.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The \u2018Colours of Orthodoxy.
