The Synod (assembly of bishops) of the Metropolis of Muntenia and Dobrudja met Tuesday at the patriarchal residence in Bucharest under the chairmanship of His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel. During the February 6 meeti<\/span>ng, the hierarchs agreed on proposing Saint Matrona of Moscow to be added to the calendar of the Romanian Orthodox Church.<\/span><\/h4>\n

The procedure requires a further validation of the Holy Synod which <\/span>will meet in the near future for a working session.<\/span><\/p>\n

During his visit to Moscow last year on the celebrations of the restoration of the patriarchate in the Russian Orthodox Church, Patriarch Daniel celebrated<\/span> the Divine Liturgy at the Intercession Monastery in Moscow, where the holy relics of Blessed Matrona are kept.<\/span><\/p>\n

During the Tuesday meeting of the Metropolitan Synod, services and akathists to several Saints were completed, which will be forwarded to the Holy Synod for final approval:<\/span><\/p>\n

    \n
  • Akathist Hymn to the Holy Great Martyr Christopher.<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Service and Akathist Hymn to the Holy Martyrs Claudius, Sempronianus, Castorius, and Nicostratus.<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Service and Akathist to the Holy 26 Martyrs in Gothia.<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Akathist Hymn to the Holy Apostle and Evangelist Luke.<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Service and Akathist to the Syriac Icon of the Mother of God from Ghighiu Monastery.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    The agenda included amendments to the Regulation of the Central Bodies of the Romanian Orthodox Church and to the Regulation of the Administration of Church Goods, as well as other administrative matters.<\/span><\/p>\n

    The same day the hierarchs appointed a member of the Superior Church Consistory and established several organizational aspects regarding the youth camp \u2018Tradition and novelty.\u2019<\/span><\/p>\n

    Attending the meeting of the February 6 Metropolitan Synod chaired by Patriarch Daniel were the following hierarchs:<\/span><\/p>\n

    \n–\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>His Eminence Archbishop Calinic of Arges and Muscel;<\/span>
    \n–\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>His Eminence Archbishop Casian of Lower Danube;<\/span>

    \n–\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>His Grace Bishop Siluan of Hungary and administrator of the Dacia Felix Diocese;<\/span>
    \n–\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>His Grace Timotei of Prahova, Assistant Bishop to the Archdiocese of Bucharest. <\/span><\/p>\n

    The Metropolitan Synod is comprised of the region\u2019s Metropolitan, archbishops, bishops and auxiliary bishops.<\/span><\/p>\n
