{"id":190310,"date":"2018-03-20T11:16:36","date_gmt":"2018-03-20T09:16:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/basilica.ro\/?p=190310"},"modified":"2018-03-20T14:28:48","modified_gmt":"2018-03-20T12:28:48","slug":"metropolitan-sawa-invites-believers-at-first-liturgy-in-new-warsaw-cathedral","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arhiva.basilica.ro\/en\/metropolitan-sawa-invites-believers-at-first-liturgy-in-new-warsaw-cathedral\/","title":{"rendered":"Metropolitan Sawa invites believers at first liturgy in new Warsaw Cathedral"},"content":{"rendered":"<h4>His Beatitude Metropolitan Sawa of Warsaw and All Poland has invited the clergy and faithful of the Polish Orthodox Church to attend the first Divine Liturgy in the capital\u2019s new Agia Sophia Cathedral on Saturday May 19, 2018.<\/h4>\n<p>According to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.orthodox.pl\/odezwa-jego-eminencji-metropolity-sawy-2\/\">press release<\/a> from the metropolitan\u2019s chancellery, this will be the second important moment in the history of the cathedral, after the laying and consecration of the foundation stone by His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew in December 2015.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMany of us have placed a personal brock in its walls as an expression of our faith and love for our forefathers,\u201d the metropolitan writes referring to the memorial Cathedral built in honour of\u00a0Orthodox refugees in 1915, martyrs in the Che\u0142mskaya and Podlasie areas, victims of the Vistula Action (Wis\u0142a), from the village of Furman\u00f3w, and all those who have suffered and gave up their lives for Orthodoxy.<\/p>\n<p>In his message, Metropolitan Sawa has invited all hierarchs, clerics, and faithful to the placing of the holy Cross on the cathedral&#8217;s main dome, which will be &#8216;a wondrous event on the 100th anniversary of the regaining of Poland&#8217;s independence.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>All are also invited to the placing of the holy Cross on the cathedral\u2019s main dome, which will take place the same day, and which will be a wondrous event \u201con the occasion of the 100 years since the regaining of Poland\u2019s independence.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>His Beatitude Sawa has been leading the Autocephalous Orthodox Church of Poland since 1998.
