Patriarchate released a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.patriarchate.org\/-\/anakoinothen-tes-agias-kai-ieras-synodou-22-04-2018-\">communiqu\u00e9<\/a> stating that it has decided to begin a dialogue and coordination with its sister autocephalous Orthodox Churches on the matter of creating an autocephalous Ukrainian Orthodox Church.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Ecumenical patriarchate noted it will examine the matter according to the Sacred Canons, the tradition of the Church in order to preserve pan-Orthodox unity and given the &#8216;care for the Orthodox Churches throughout the world \u2014 especially of the Ukrainian Orthodox Nation that has received the salvific Christian faith and holy baptism from Constantinople.&#8217;<strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The communique refers to the petition received from ecclesiastical and civil authorities \u2014 representing millions of Ukrainian Orthodox Christians \u2014 that requests the bestowal of autocephaly.<\/p>\n<p>Photography
