On July 1998, a significant event for Albanian Orthodox Church took place which was the re-gathering of the Holy Synod after the long atheistic darkness.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The enthronement of His Eminence Ignat, the ordination and enthronement of His Eminence Joan as well as the ordination of Bishop Kozma completed the whole process of the canonical revival of the Orthodox Autocephalous Church of Albania which started on 24 June 1992 with the election of Archbishop Anastasios. Such a remarkable event was celebrated with a divine liturgy and special activities from July 18th to 25th.<\/p>\n

On July 18, at St. Demetrius Cathedral in Berat, a Divine Liturgy was celebrated on the 20th anniversary of the enthronement of His Eminence Ignat, the Metropolitan of Berat, reports official webiste<\/a> of Curch of Albania.<\/p>\n

Bishop Asti of Bylis, the clergy of the Metropolis, faithful, local authorities and representatives of other religious communities participated in the events. On behalf of His Beatitude, Archbishop Anastasios, Bishop Asti of Bylis extended the congratulations to Metropolitan Ignat who received also other occasional wishes from the participants.<\/p>\n

On July 23, 2018, on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of his ordination as Bishop, election and enthronement, His Eminence, Joan, the Metropolitan of Kor\u00e7a was honored with “Doctor Honoris Causa” Award by Fan Noli University in Kor\u00e7\u00eb.<\/p>\n

And on July 25, in the Resurrection of Christ cathedral, a Divine Liturgy was celebrated by the Metropolitan of Kastoria, His Eminence Seraphim, Metropolitan of Kozan, His Eminence Paul, Metropolitan of Siatista, His Eminence Paul, Metropolitan of Elbasan, His Eminence Andoni, Metropolitan of Amantia, His Eminence Nathanail, and Bishop Asti of Bylis.<\/p>\n

The Liturgy was attended by the clergy of the Metropolitan of Kor\u00e7a, local authorities, representatives of other religious communities, believers, etc. In the end, the message of Archbishop Anastasios was delivered by the Metropolitan of Elbasan, His Eminence Andon, and there was a greeting also by His Eminence Serafim of Kastoria.<\/p>\n

Finally, a congratulatory message by the President of the Republic, Mr. Ilir Meta was read in the church. After the liturgy, His Eminence Joan had a reception at the headquarters of the Metropolis.<\/p>\n
