{"id":207131,"date":"2018-09-19T11:47:11","date_gmt":"2018-09-19T08:47:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/basilica.ro\/?p=207131"},"modified":"2018-09-19T11:47:11","modified_gmt":"2018-09-19T08:47:11","slug":"romanian-patriarch-daniel-lays-foundation-stone-of-future-orthodox-church-on-mount-bucegi","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arhiva.basilica.ro\/en\/romanian-patriarch-daniel-lays-foundation-stone-of-future-orthodox-church-on-mount-bucegi\/","title":{"rendered":"Romanian Patriarch Daniel lays foundation stone of future Orthodox church on Mount Bucegi"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel of Romania Saturday laid the foundation stone of a future Orthodox church dedicated to Romania\u2019s national heroes that will be built on Mount Bucegi.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The event marked the 90<sup>th<\/sup> anniversary of the inauguration of the Heroes\u2019 Cross on Caraiman Peak, which was built at the initiative of Queen Marie and King Ferdinand I of Romania.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018This cross required a church,\u2019 His Beatitude said during the blessing service on Sept. 15.<\/p>\n<p>The future church will be dedicated to three important feasts, the Universal Exaltation of the Holy Cross, the Ascension of the Lord (Heroes\u2019 National Day), and the Transfiguration of the Lord.<\/p>\n<p>In his speech, the Patriarch pointed to the significance of the three patronal feasts and the importance of the sacrifice assumed by Romania\u2019s national heroes.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, Patriarch Daniel said that this church calls everyone to spiritual elevation.<\/p>\n<p>Concelebrants for the blessing service and the laying of foundation stone ceremony included Hon Metropolitan Nifon of Targoviste, Patriarchal Auxiliary Bishop Varlaam of Ploiesti, the Very Rev.
