The canonical Orthodox bishops in the United States of America aim to enhance spiritual\u00a0unity, communication, and cooperation among\u00a0the parishes of various jurisdictions situated in\u00a0the same geographic areas.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The canonical Orthodox hierarchs in the United States met this week in Cleveland<\/a>, Ohio, for their ninth annual meeting under the chairmanship of the Greek Archbishop Demetrios of America.<\/p>\n

During their working session on Wednesday, October 3, 2018, the Orthodox hierarchs discussed ways to support cross-jurisdictional cooperation among parishes at the local level.<\/p>\n

The hierarchs issued the following statement in that regard:<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Assembly of Canonical Orthodox Bishops of the United States of America is committed to encouraging spiritual\u00a0unity, communication, and cooperation among\u00a0the parishes of various jurisdictions situated in\u00a0the same geographic areas. <\/i><\/p>\n

The work of local\u00a0clergy brotherhoods is a critical part of this\u00a0process of achieving greater unity. <\/i><\/p>\n

In\u00a0particular, the Assembly encourages all\u00a0parishes to engage in joint liturgical events,\u00a0educational activities, and outreach ministries,\u00a0with respective hierarchical blessings.\u201d<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The same day, the Orthodox bishops in the USA discussed an assessment of the Assembly\u2019s accomplishments and challenges over the first nine years and began to identify some specific future objectives and priorities to achieve over the next several years.<\/p>\n

The Hierarchs reaffirmed their commitment to the mission of the Assembly and their desire to reinvigorate its work.<\/p>\n

The representative of the Romanian Orthodox Church in the Assembly is His Eminence Metropolitan Nicolae of the Americas.<\/p>\n
