{"id":216917,"date":"2018-11-23T16:22:22","date_gmt":"2018-11-23T14:22:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/basilica.ro\/?p=216917"},"modified":"2018-11-23T16:52:00","modified_gmt":"2018-11-23T14:52:00","slug":"ecumenical-patriarch-officially-welcomed-by-patriarch-daniel-at-the-patriarchal-cathedral-in-bucharest-video","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arhiva.basilica.ro\/en\/ecumenical-patriarch-officially-welcomed-by-patriarch-daniel-at-the-patriarchal-cathedral-in-bucharest-video\/","title":{"rendered":"Ecumenical Patriarch officially welcomed by Patriarch Daniel at the Patriarchal Cathedral in Bucharest: VIDEO"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>His Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew on Friday was officially welcomed at the Patriarchal Cathedral in Bucharest by His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel of Romania.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The church bells rang at noon announcing the arrival of the two delegations of the Ecumenical Patriarchate and of the Holy Metropolis of Patra invited to Bucharest for the consecration of the National Cathedral.<\/p>\n<p>His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel welcomed the two delegations at Sts Constantine and Helen Cathedral built in the seventeenth century.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" style=\"border: none; overflow: hidden;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/video.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Fbasilica.ro%2Fvideos%2F207727020116552%2F&amp;show_text=0&amp;width=560\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\" data-mce-fragment=\"1\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>A Polychronion was chanted in honour of the two Primates of local Orthodox Churches.<\/p>\n<h4>Welcoming speech<\/h4>\n<p>Following the service, Patriarch Daniel officially welcomed the honoured guests in the capital city of Romania on the occasion of the National Cathedral\u2019s inauguration.<\/p>\n<p>In his <a href=\"http:\/\/basilica.ro\/en\/welcome-to-romania-message-by-romanian-patriarch-daniel-at-the-reception-of-foreign-delegations\/\">speech<\/a>, His Beatitude recalled the former visits paid by the Ecumenical Patriarch in Romania and noted that they highlight \u2018the spiritual tie between the Romanian Orthodox Church and the Ecumenical Patriarchate.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew is now on his tenth visit to Romania.<\/p>\n<h4>Patriarch Daniel&#8217;s speech<\/h4>\n<p>Referring to the Cathedral\u2019s inauguration, Patriarch Daniel said that it also \u2018represents the 100<sup>th<\/sup> anniversary of the 1918 Union of all Romanian provinces in one state \u2013 the Kingdom of Greater Romania.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u2018The first beneficial consequence of this union of 1918 was <strong>the elevation of the Romanian Orthodox Church to the rank of Patriarchate<\/strong>, recognized by Your Holiness\u2019s predecessor Patriarch Basil III of blessed memory, through <em>Tomos no. 1579<\/em> of 30 July 1925,\u2019 he said.<\/p>\n<p>His Beatitude also expressed his joy for \u2018the presence in Bucharest, at this unique event in the life of the Romanian Orthodox Church, of His Eminence Chrysostomos, Metropolitan of Patra, the delegate of the Holy Synod of the Orthodox Church of Greece, who brought on this occasion to Bucharest the <em>Venerable Hand of the<\/em> <em>Holy Apostle Andrew, the First-called, Protector of Romania and of the National Cathedral<\/em>.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Ending his speech, the Patriarch of Romania wished everyone \u2018a blessed visit to our Country and Church.\u2019<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_216866\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-216866\" style=\"width: 1900px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-216866 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/basilica.ro\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/Primire-Moaste-Sf-Andrei-116.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1900\" height=\"1267\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-216866\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Patriarch Daniel delivering his welcome speech. Photography: Basilica.ro<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h4>\u2018We became worthy to come once again to this blessed country\u2019<\/h4>\n<p>In his response, the Ecumenical Patriarch reminded that he had received the invitation to attend this \u2018great, historic event\u2019 in 2016, during the Holy and Great Council of Crete.<\/p>\n<p>His Holiness noted that Patriarch Daniel\u2019s contribution to the good course of the Council was highly appreciated \u2018by all our fellow Synodal hierarchs, by the Primates and others.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u2018His Beatitude\u2019s contribution to the success of our Council,\u2019 the Ecumenical Patriarch added, \u2018was truly important, not only because of his rich dogmatic and theological education, thanks to which he was able to bring a substantial contribution to some important, delicate aspects, but also thanks to his wide horizon and his conciliatory and irenic character.\u2019<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-lang=\"ro\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">HAH <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/EcuPatriarch?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@EcuPatriarch<\/a> Bartholomew being welcomed with polychronion at the Patriarchal Cathedral in Bucharest. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/lE1qM2uC9f\">pic.twitter.com\/lE1qM2uC9f<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Basilica.ro (EN) (@BasilicaNews) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BasilicaNews\/status\/1065921263766507520?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">23 noiembrie 2018<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>His Holiness went on to speak about the inauguration of the National Cathedral, which \u2018represents the sacred promise of the Romanian people for its national freedom.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u2018We are invited to consecrate it the day after tomorrow and then present it to the One Who gave us spiritual and physical freedom, 11 years after the laying of its foundation stone,\u2019 the Ecumenical Patriarch said stressing at the same time the good ties between the two Churches.<\/p>\n<h4>Your joy is our joy<\/h4>\n<p>\u2018Every joy, every success and progress of Your Beatitude is also ours, and vice versa, every of sadness, problem and difficulty we consider and feel as our own.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u2018We know that there is reciprocity on behalf of Your Beatitude and thus, the originality of brotherhood is confirmed,\u2019 His Holiness said Nov. 23.<\/p>\n<p>The Patriarch of Constantinople ended his speech by thanking \u2018from the depth of our heart for the marvellous welcome, as well as for the warm and polite words.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>He conveyed \u2018warm blessings and heartfelt wishes on behalf of the Mother Church to all believers of the Church of Romania and to the entire Romanian people.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>His Holiness presented the distinguished members of his delegation including Metropolitans Emmanuel of France and Eplidophoros of Bursa.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_216864\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-216864\" style=\"width: 1900px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-216864 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/basilica.ro\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/Primire-Moaste-Sf-Andrei-115.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1900\" height=\"1267\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-216864\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew (left) and Patriarch Daniel (right) at the official reception held at the Patriarchal Cathedral in Bucharest, November 23, 2018.
