{"id":225705,"date":"2019-01-25T11:02:36","date_gmt":"2019-01-25T09:02:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/basilica.ro\/?p=225705"},"modified":"2019-01-25T11:02:36","modified_gmt":"2019-01-25T09:02:36","slug":"president-iohannis-declares-iasi-a-historical-capital-of-romania","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arhiva.basilica.ro\/en\/president-iohannis-declares-iasi-a-historical-capital-of-romania\/","title":{"rendered":"President Iohannis declares Ia\u0219i a Historical Capital of Romania"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>On Wednesday evening, President Klaus Iohannis handed over to Mayor Mihai Chirica a copy of the decree promulgating the law that declares Ia\u0219i as Historical Capital of Romania.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A special ceremony was held at the Palace of Culture in Ia\u0219i on the occasion of the 160<sup>th<\/sup> anniversary of the Union of the Romanian Principalities in 1859.<\/p>\n<p>The event was attended by His Eminence Metropolitan Teofan of Moldavia and Bukovina.<\/p>\n<p>The head of state also attended the decoration ceremony of \u201cVasile Alecsandri\u201d National Theatre, of the \u201cMoldova\u201d National Museum Complex and of the National Romanian Opera in Iasi.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" style=\"border: none; overflow: hidden;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/video.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Fprivesc.eu%2Fvideos%2F1193337537482281%2F&amp;show_text=0&amp;width=560\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\" data-mce-fragment=\"1\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The President of Romania congratulated the city of Iasi and Mayor Mihai Chirica on this occasion noting that \u2018being a capital, it does not mean looking back melancholically, but recharging the city\u2019s energies to develop itself as national and European metropolis.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Here, in Iasi, in crucial moments of our modern history, decisions have been taken that have mostly influenced the existence and development of the whole of Romania.
