{"id":230599,"date":"2019-03-15T12:06:06","date_gmt":"2019-03-15T10:06:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/basilica.ro\/?p=230599"},"modified":"2019-03-15T12:06:06","modified_gmt":"2019-03-15T10:06:06","slug":"icon-of-panagia-jordanitissa-relics-of-st-ephraim-of-nea-makri-brought-to-icoanei-church-in-bucharest","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arhiva.basilica.ro\/en\/icon-of-panagia-jordanitissa-relics-of-st-ephraim-of-nea-makri-brought-to-icoanei-church-in-bucharest\/","title":{"rendered":"Icon of Panagia Jordanitissa, relics of St Ephraim of Nea Makri, brought to Icoanei Church in Bucharest"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>The Jordanitissa Wonderworking Icon of the Mother of God was brought on Thursday from the Romanian Settlement in Jerusalem to Icoanei Church, a church in Bucharest named after the an old icon of Our Lady sitting on throne offered by Ruler Prince Saint Constantine Brancoveanu, marking the beginning of this year&#8217;s festivities dedicated to the Sunday of Orthodoxy.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Jordanitissa Icon of the Mother of God was brought by the V. Rev. Archimandrite Teofil Anastasoaie, representative of the Romanian Patriarchate to the Holy Lands and superior of the Romanian Settlements in Jerusalem, Jericho and Jordan.<\/p>\n<p>On this occasion, the reliquary containing a fragment of the holy relics of Saint Ephraim of Nea Makri, which is kept at the Patriarchal Cathedral, was brought to Icoanei Church to be venerated by believers.<\/p>\n<p>The Panagia Jordanitissa will remain in Bucharest until Monday, March 18, the parish priest announced.<\/p>\n<p>The Jordanitissa Icon of the Mother of God was enshrined inside the church of the Romanian Skete in Jordan Valley. This skete was built by the Romanian Patriarchate in 1935 at the Qasr Al Yahud Baptismal Site of Jesus in the West Bank of the Jordan River.<\/p>\n<p>Following the War of Attrition (1967-1970), the Romanian Orthodox Church was bombed and severely damaged, and the Jordan Icon of the Theotokos was brought to the Jerusalem Settlement.<\/p>\n<div id='gallery-1' class='gallery galleryid-230599
