His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel on Monday, April 1, blessed two new reliquaries containing particles of the holy relics of Sts Charalampos, Theodore Tiron and Menas that will be enshrined at Suzana Monastery.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u2018We ascribe glory to God for answering the wish of Suzana Monastery to have two new reliquaries containing the relics of Hieromartyr Charalampos, and the Holy Great-Martyrs Theodore Tiron and Menas.\u2019<\/p>\n

These three martyrs are \u2018the protectors of the monastery, but also the helpers of all pilgrims who will bow down before the icons of these holy martyrs and kiss the particles of their relics,\u2019 His Beatitude said.<\/p>\n

In his speech, the patriarch referred to the wide-spread veneration of holy relics especially over the last years.<\/p>\n

\u2018We need models, but even more, we need more intercessors,\u2019 the Patriarch noted.<\/p>\n

His Beatitude underscored that martyrs are the most numerous saints in the calendar of the Romanian Orthodox Church.<\/p>\n

He noted that relics of martyrs are placed inside the altar table and in the antimins when a church is consecrated.<\/p>\n

\u2018Martyrs are the most close to Christ\u2019s sacrificial love,\u2019 he said.<\/p>\n

The veneration of Saints, the Patriarch added, \u2018is a way to strengthen the spiritual life of the Church, but also to strengthen the devotion of every believer.\u2019<\/p>\n

Suzana Monastery was founded in 1740.<\/p>\n
