{"id":235348,"date":"2019-04-25T23:35:00","date_gmt":"2019-04-25T20:35:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/basilica.ro\/?p=235348"},"modified":"2019-04-25T23:35:00","modified_gmt":"2019-04-25T20:35:00","slug":"holy-land-easter-message-lasting-peace-in-jerusalem-and-the-world","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arhiva.basilica.ro\/en\/holy-land-easter-message-lasting-peace-in-jerusalem-and-the-world\/","title":{"rendered":"Holy Land Easter message: lasting peace in Jerusalem and the world"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Thirteen Patriarchs and Heads of Christian Churches in Jerusalem have issued an Easter Message praying for lasting peace throughout the world and urging that the multi-religious and multi-cultural status of Jerusalem be maintained.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The 13 spiritual leaders in Jerusalem have expressed their Easter greeting to the people of the Holy Land, the larger Middle East and the world, wishing that the words of Christ, \u201cI came that they may have life, and have it abundantly,\u201d\u00a0 (John 10:10) be realized everywhere.<\/p>\n<p>In a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.anglicannews.org\/news\/2019\/04\/easter-message-of-the-patriarchs-and-heads-of-churches-in-jerusalem.aspx\">joint message<\/a>, the leaders, including the Greek Orthodox Patriarch Theophilos III of Jerusalem and All Palestine, say that through His life, death, and resurrection, Jesus brought about new creation and restored all things, including God\u2019s image in human beings.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Feast of the Resurrection,\u201d they stress, \u201creminds us that\u00a0human dignity is to be respected and honoured.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>While noting that Jerusalem is \u201ca beacon of hope, the spiritual leaders call on believers to pray for the &#8220;regions of violence and distress&#8221; and for women and children &#8220;who face violence\u201d.<\/p>\n<h2><b>City of peace and reconciliation<\/b><\/h2>\n<p>The life promised by Jesus is \u201cin abundance, not in scarcity\u201d, they say, adding \u201cJerusalem, the city of the resurrection, is the beacon of hope and life.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The city of life, they insist, is also the city of peace and reconciliation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTherefore, the\u00a0multi-religious and multi-cultural status of Jerusalem\u00a0has to be maintained and all Abrahamic faiths may find it none other than the city of peace and tranquility.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2><b>Violence and peace<\/b><\/h2>\n<p>Jerusalem\u2019s Christian leaders pledge to continue praying for a just and lasting peace in Jerusalem and throughout the world.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are steadfast in praying for all regions of violence and distress, especially, violence against innocent people and places of worship.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>While praying for all\u00a0women and children\u00a0who face violence and injustice throughout the globe, they call upon all people to respect the dignity of every human person and walk together toward wholeness and fullness of life.<\/p>\n<p>The Christian leaders invite their faithful around the world and in the Middle East to be witnesses to the resurrection by promoting the values of the Risen Lord, through active involvement in the life of the Church and in wider society.<\/p>\n<p>Photo: Pixabay<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Thirteen Patriarchs and Heads of Christian Churches in Jerusalem have issued an Easter Message praying for lasting peace throughout the world and urging that the multi-religious and multi-cultural status of Jerusalem be maintained.
