The Basilica.ro photo exhibition titled \u2018The Portrait of the Romanian Village\u2019 will be opened at the Romanian Cultural Institute in Stockholm this October.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

The event is organised by the Basilica News Agency, in cooperation with the Romanian Orthodox Diocese of Northern Europe and the Romanian Cultural Institute in Stockholm.<\/span><\/p>\n

The exhibition will be inaugurated by the director of the Basilica News Agency on Thursday, October 3, at 18.00.<\/span><\/p>\n

26 portraits of Romanian villagers will travel to Stockholm to help Romanians remember their roots and to highlight the core values preserved by rural places in their homeland.<\/span><\/p>\n

This event is part of the cultural manifestations organised by the Diocese of Northern Europe between October 3 and October 5, 2019, marking the Solemn Year of the Romanian Village, as declared by the Holy Synod of the Romanian Orthodox Church.<\/span><\/p>\n

The photos will also go on display in J\u00f6nk\u00f6ping on Friday, October 4, where the Diocese will host an international symposium on \u2018The Orthodox church and the treasures of the Romanian Village: faith, language, traditions.\u2019<\/span><\/p>\n

The Portrait of the Romanian Village<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

In the context of the Solemn Year of the Romanian Village in the Romanian Patriarchate, the Basilica News Agency <\/span>opened its first photography exhibition<\/a> under the name of \u2018<\/span>The Portrait of the Romanian Village<\/a><\/span>\u2019 during a ceremony held at the Palace of the Patriarchate on February 27, 2019 in the presence of His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel.<\/span><\/p>\n

The exhibition included fifty pictures, some of which haven\u2019t been printed or exhibited before, which were taken by the Basilica.ro photographers Raluca Ene and Mircea Florescu, as well as by other Romanian photographers who spent weeks, months and even years photographing the iconic parts of Romania\u2019s villages.<\/span><\/p>\n

Other pictures are signed by Sorin Onisor, surnamed the Photographer of the Romanian Village, Mioara Chiparus, Andreea Acatrinei, Gina Buliga, Mirela Dragita, Daniel Ghindea, Daniel Mandache, Cezar Gabriel Popescu, Silviu Florin Salomia, Ionut Tanciu and Madalina Ursu.<\/p>\n
