{"id":259234,"date":"2019-11-06T16:46:20","date_gmt":"2019-11-06T14:46:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/basilica.ro\/?p=259234"},"modified":"2019-11-06T16:46:20","modified_gmt":"2019-11-06T14:46:20","slug":"metropolis-of-chicago-launches-new-ministry-to-help-greek-orthodox-high-school-graduates-transition-to-college","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arhiva.basilica.ro\/en\/metropolis-of-chicago-launches-new-ministry-to-help-greek-orthodox-high-school-graduates-transition-to-college\/","title":{"rendered":"Metropolis of Chicago launches new ministry to help Greek Orthodox high school graduates transition to college"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>The Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Chicago announced a new ministry for high school graduates called Lighthouse. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Lighthouse aims to prepare campers for the social, emotional, practical, and spiritual challenges they will encounter in their college experience and beyond.<\/p>\n<p>Named \u201cLighthouse,\u201d the ministry was developed through the Metropolis\u2019 Office of Youth &amp; Young Adult Ministries (Y2AM Chicago) and is intended to be the natural next step for campers who attended both St. Mary\u2019s Orthodox Camp and Fanari Camp.<\/p>\n<p>The ministry was created to address and respond to the troubling reality that approximately 60 percent of youth are leaving Christianity (including the Orthodox Church) in America today.<\/p>\n<p>Specifically, Lighthouse will organize, promote, and execute an annual camp staffed with clergy and laity trained to proactively engage the age group and foster an authentic sense of community among campers as Orthodox Christians.
