Orthodox believers in the south part of Sweden honoured the country’s Enlightener Saint Sigfrid at the Romanian parish in V\u00e4xj\u00f6 on Saturday, February 15.<\/strong><\/p>\n

His Grace Bishop Macarie of the Romanian Orthodox Diocese of Northern Europe celebrated<\/a> the Divine Liturgy marking the parish’s patronal feast.<\/p>\n

Referring to St Sigfrid’s personality, His Grace said that ‘to reach the heart of the warrior Viking nations, as a missionary you have to be a warrior yourself, a fighter ready to fight to the end and give your life for Christ.’<\/p>\n

‘One such warrior carrying the weapons of the Spirit, of love, truth, goodness and justice was the Holy Hierarch Sigfrid. He defeated the invisible enemies of salvation and overcame this world, by conquering the inner city of the heart and invading it with the beneficial rays of the Unsetting Sun \u2013 our Saviour Jesus Christ.’<\/p>\n

‘Saint Sigfrid was a warrior of the Spirit. He was a warrior who succeeded to conquer the unbeatable fighters of the distant lands,’ said Bishop Macarie adding that the same day the Church remembers St Sigfrid’s nephews who died as martyrs: Unaman the priest, Sunaman the deacon, and Winaman the subdeacon.<\/p>\n

On Sunday, February 16, 2020, His Grace Bishop Macarie celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Romanian Orthodox parish in Kalmar.<\/p>\n
