{"id":280888,"date":"2020-05-26T19:02:16","date_gmt":"2020-05-26T16:02:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/basilica.ro\/?p=280888"},"modified":"2020-05-26T19:10:49","modified_gmt":"2020-05-26T16:10:49","slug":"new-smartphone-app-opens-famed-greek-monasteries-to-the-world","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arhiva.basilica.ro\/en\/new-smartphone-app-opens-famed-greek-monasteries-to-the-world\/","title":{"rendered":"New smartphone app opens famed Greek Monasteries to the world"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p1\"><strong><span class=\"s1\">Locked-down would-be tourists who are longing to visit Greece can still enjoy the magnificent views of the Meteora monasteries and even walk alongside the monks of Mount Athos using a new app called \u201cVR Pilgrim.\u201d<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Just by using their own smartphone, tourists can enjoy 360-degree views of two of Greece\u2019s most spectacular sites, the Meteora monasteries and the twenty monasteries atop Mount Athos, <a href=\"https:\/\/greece.greekreporter.com\/2020\/05\/25\/new-smartphone-app-opens-famed-greek-monasteries-to-the-world\/\">Greek Reporter<\/a> noted.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" style=\"border: none; overflow: hidden;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/post.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Fvrpilgrim%2Fposts%2F142371527408213&amp;width=500\" width=\"500\" height=\"644\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s1\">Commenting on the VR Pilgrim app, Starets Kirill, Archimandrite of the cell of St. Nicholaos Halkias on Mount Athos, who was involved in the filming process, said \u201cTwo years ago, when we blessed VR Treasures for the creation of a virtual library about the treasures of Athos, no one could imagine how relevant this would become.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cIn today\u2019s situation, VR Pilgrim is the only opportunity to see the holy places with your own eyes,\u201d the Archimandrite adds.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s1\">In the case of Mt.
