the Mother of Life as well:<br \/>\nboth to angels and to men a sight most strange!<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ol start=\"2\">\n<li>We exalt you greatly,<br \/>\nTheotokos most pure,<br \/>\nand we glorify your holy dormition now,<br \/>\nas we bow before your honored precious tomb.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ol start=\"3\">\n<li>In your womb you held him<br \/>\nwho cannot be contained;<br \/>\nyou are life to all the faithful: how can you die,<br \/>\nand your body be contained within a tomb?<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ol start=\"4\">\n<li>You brought forth, Pure Maiden,<br \/>\nGod the heavenly King,<br \/>\nand today in manner royal are carried forth<br \/>\nto the Kingdom of the Heavens as a Queen.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ol start=\"5\">\n<li>Holy Theotokos,<br \/>\nYou have passed from this world,<br \/>\nin departing not forsaking those left on earth,<br \/>\nbut delivering this world from every ill.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ol start=\"6\">\n<li>All the earth sings glory<br \/>\nat your grave side, O Christ,<br \/>\nwith all reverence, O Master, we also praise<br \/>\nthe entombment of your Mother, ever Pure.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ol start=\"7\">\n<li>Overcome with wonder,<br \/>\nare the angels in awe<br \/>\nin beholding you, Pure Maiden, laid out as dead,<br \/>\nfor from you has Light beamed forth to all the world.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ol start=\"8\">\n<li>Maiden Pure and Spotless,<br \/>\nand our Heavenly Queen,<br \/>\nonce again has God sent Gabriel down to earth<br \/>\nwith the joyful news that you have left this life.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ol start=\"9\">\n<li>Now the Bridegroom calls you,<br \/>\nto rejoice, Bride of God.<br \/>\nin a manner both divine and most beautiful<br \/>\nin the Bridal Chamber, holy and divine.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ol start=\"10\">\n<li>You, O Virgin, come now<br \/>\nto the throne seat of God<br \/>\nwhere the awesome unapproachable Light shines forth<br \/>\nfrom the Trinity, and lights where you repose.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ol start=\"11\">\n<li>From the earth departing,<br \/>\nYou appeared before God.<br \/>\nYou were not, O Theotokos, removed from God,<br \/>\nnor has God been parted from His mother\u2019s heart.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ol start=\"12\">\n<li>Your most honored Body,<br \/>\nTheotokos, remained<br \/>\nuncorrupted by decay as you lay entombed<br \/>\nbut it passed with you to heaven from the earth.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ol start=\"13\">\n<li>Your all-holy face shines<br \/>\nPurest Maiden, in death,<br \/>\nand your countenance appears now as Paradise,<br \/>\nbreathing forth to all believers grace and life.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ol start=\"14\">\n<li>We your children offer<br \/>\nlamentations and love<br \/>\nunto you who are our Mother: accept our gift<br \/>\nwhich we offer from the deepness of our souls.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ol start=\"15\">\n<li>Look upon your children<br \/>\nwho are gathered this day:<br \/>\nmay your honored eyes be open that you behold<br \/>\nthose who glorify with honor your repose.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ol start=\"16\">\n<li>To us grant your blessing<br \/>\nwhen you open your lips<br \/>\nO Most Holy Theotokos, departing now<br \/>\nat the ending of your time upon the earth.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ol start=\"17\">\n<li>Leave us not as orphans<br \/>\nwhen you leave us on earth,<br \/>\nfor, O Mother, you are taken to heaven now,<br \/>\nto abide there with your Son and with your God.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ol start=\"18\">\n<li>Gathered \u2018round your bedside,<br \/>\nwe are calling to you,<br \/>\nour all-holy Virgin Mother, with fervent voice,<br \/>\n\u201cSave the faithful and have mercy upon us!\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ol start=\"19\">\n<li>Mother Anna, join us<br \/>\nCome and stand in our midst!<br \/>\nCome and lead the celebration of this glad feast<br \/>\nof your holy daughter, Mother of our God!<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ol start=\"20\">\n<li>Come and let us raise up<br \/>\npraise and glory to God<br \/>\nwho has summoned to the Holy of Holies now<br \/>\none yet greater than the Holiest of Saints.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ol start=\"21\">\n<li>Filled with gladness, Heaven<br \/>\nis receiving her Queen<br \/>\nfor the Mother of creation in glory comes<br \/>\nand appears in glory, reigning with her God.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ol start=\"22\">\n<li>Now the God of Glory<br \/>\ntakes His mother to Him<br \/>\nand the Son who has received you, O Purest One,<br \/>\nhas prepared for you a seat at His right Hand.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em>Glory to the Father and the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.<\/em><\/p>\n<ol start=\"23\">\n<li>Now unto the Father<br \/>\nand the Holy Amen.<\/em><\/p>\n<ol start=\"24\">\n<li>Every generation<br \/>\ncomes to know you as blest,<br \/>\nand your holy pure dormition we glorify<br \/>\nTheotokos, ever-Virgin, Sovereign Queen!<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><em>(Repeat Verse One)<\/em><\/p>\n<p>In a grave they laid you<br \/>\nyet, O Christ, you are life<br \/>\nand they now have laid the Mother of Life as well:<br \/>\nboth to angels and to men a sight most strange!<\/p>\n<h4>SECOND STASIS<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>Truly it is right<br \/>\nthat we magnify you who bestow life,<br \/>\njust as your pure Mother you magnify<br \/>\nfor her life-creating falling into sleep.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ol start=\"2\">\n<li>Truly it is right<br \/>\nthat we magnify you, Theotokos,<br \/>\nyou took your divine and all-blameless soul<br \/>\nand entrusted it into the Hands of God.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ol start=\"3\">\n<li>Wonder strange and new!<br \/>\nFor the Door now passes through the Doorway,<br \/>\nHeaven enters Heaven! We stand in awe<br \/>\n\u021aas the Throne of God ascends the Throne of God!<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ol start=\"4\">\n<li>All angelic hosts<br \/>\nstood and marveled when beholding Christ God,<br \/>\nwho is unapproachable now approach<br \/>\nto give honor to His mother as a Son.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ol start=\"5\">\n<li>Angels shook with fear<br \/>\nto behold their God again descending;<br \/>\nwith His mother\u2019s soul carried in His hands,<br \/>\nHe arose again in glory most divine.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ol start=\"6\">\n<li>Heaven shall be awed,<br \/>\nand the earth unto these words shall hearken;<br \/>\nGod above all things, who did once come down,<br \/>\nfor His mother\u2019s sake a second time descends!<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ol start=\"7\">\n<li>Wisdom now has moved<br \/>\nfrom her dwelling place on earth to heaven.<br \/>\nand has filled her heavenly mansion there<br \/>\nwith the glory that has come from God above.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ol start=\"8\">\n<li>Virgin Bride of God,<br \/>\nwho did not descend to us from Heaven,<br \/>\nby her giving birth unto heaven\u2019s King<br \/>\nfrom this world unto the heavens now ascends.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ol start=\"9\">\n<li>Mankind now may pass<br \/>\ninto heaven for the Way is open.<br \/>\nCome therefore, all Christians who bear His name:<br \/>\nLet us rise up with the Mother of our God.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ol start=\"10\">\n<li>Down into the earth<br \/>\nYou, the Lord\u2019s unplanted land, descended,<br \/>\nOut of you has sprung forth the Grain of Life,<br \/>\nand unto the Land of Heaven you arise.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ol start=\"11\">\n<li>Mother of the Light!<br \/>\nNow the sun which once beheld the setting of the Sun of Righteousness now beholds<br \/>\nYou, O Virgin, as the setting of the moon.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ol start=\"12\">\n<li>Darkness of the tomb<br \/>\nnow conceals the Lord\u2019s light-bearing Mountain<br \/>\nwhich once covered Heaven with Virtue\u2019s light,<br \/>\nbut now lies beneath the shadows of its shroud.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ol start=\"13\">\n<li>Taken from the earth<br \/>\nyou arose to be with God in heaven.<br \/>\nAll the earth rejoices along with you<br \/>\nand it glorifies, O Virgin, your repose.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ol start=\"14\">\n<li>Pure and incorrupt,<br \/>\nnow your body lies enclosed in Heaven<br \/>\nwhile your grace, O Virgin, is pouring forth<br \/>\nand illuminates the face of all the earth.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ol start=\"15\">\n<li>Filling up your days<br \/>\nsinging hymns to God with prayer and fasting<br \/>\nYou, O Virgin Maiden, await the time<br \/>\nwhen you come before the Lord in your repose.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ol start=\"16\">\n<li>Faithful souls rejoice,<br \/>\nand their faces are alight and shining,<br \/>\nOur all-holy Lady, because of you,<br \/>\nwho, departing now from us, will join the Lord.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ol start=\"17\">\n<li>See before your tomb<br \/>\nstanding piously the true believers;<br \/>\nhear the lamentations our voices raise<br \/>\nunto you, who are the Author of our Life.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ol start=\"18\">\n<li>Early in the dawn<br \/>\nwe the faithful rise to sing your glory<br \/>\npraising your dormition, with all our love,<br \/>\nSovereign Virgin Maiden, free from any sin.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ol start=\"19\">\n<li>Virgin Bride of God!<br \/>\nWhen you enter into heaven\u2019s kingdom,<br \/>\nGrant that you remember the faithful here<br \/>\nwho now honor your dormition with our hymns.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ol start=\"20\">\n<li>As you once foretold,<br \/>\nyou are magnified now, most pure Virgin,<br \/>\nby the very power which did create<br \/>\nboth the heavens and the earth and all therein.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ol start=\"21\">\n<li>Standing face to face<br \/>\nwhere the Seraphim their faces cover,<br \/>\nyou behold the Trinity that is God<br \/>\none in essence, and which nothing can divide.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ol start=\"22\">\n<li>All the earth is glad<br \/>\nand the heavens sing in celebration;<br \/>\nangels raise their voices to join with men<br \/>\nand as you ascend to heaven they rejoice!<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><em>Glory to the Father and the Son and to the Holy Spirit.<\/em><\/p>\n<ol start=\"23\">\n<li>God beyond all time,<br \/>\nwith the Word and Spirit everlasting,<br \/>\nin that You are God, merciful and good,<br \/>\nlet the clarion of Christians be extolled!<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><em>Both now and ever and unto the ages of ages. Your lips which loved God<br \/>\nand ever spoke about Him<br \/>\nhave now been bound by silence.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ol start=\"11\">\n<li>\u201cWe shall not abandon<br \/>\nthe Mother of our Teacher!\u201d<br \/>\nthe Lord\u2019s apostles cried out.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ol start=\"12\">\n<li>On up-borne clouds, O Virgin,<br \/>\nagain we go before you<br \/>\nunto the gates of Heaven.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ol start=\"13\">\n<li>The holy staff is laid down<br \/>\ninside the tomb and hidden<br \/>\nand from it Life has blossomed.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ol start=\"14\">\n<li>By giving birth she raised up<br \/>\nthe dead from their entombment,<br \/>\nand yet, she lies entombed now.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ol start=\"15\">\n<li>\u201cWhere, Virgin, are you going?\u201d<br \/>\nher loved one and defender<br \/>\ncalls out as Son to Mother.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ol start=\"16\">\n<li>You, who are God\u2019s Mother<br \/>\nwith joyful heart now enter<br \/>\ninto your Son\u2019s glad presence.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ol start=\"17\">\n<li>Called with the apostles<br \/>\nare you again attending<br \/>\nthe wedding feast at Cana?<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ol start=\"18\">\n<li>Take me, your child, O Virgin<br \/>\ntoday as you are raised up<br \/>\nto be with your divine Son.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ol start=\"19\">\n<li>To Heaven you are taken,<br \/>\nand with your Son are living:<br \/>\nLet me be also taken.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ol start=\"20\">\n<li>Together in the Heavens,<br \/>\nmay we now stand in glory<br \/>\nwho at your cross in pain stood.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ol start=\"21\">\n<li>Gethsemane, be joyful!<br \/>\nGreat hosts endowed with reason<br \/>\ndescend now with the Master.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ol start=\"22\">\n<li>Be jubilant, be joyful,<br \/>\nO Chorus of Disciples,<br \/>\nBehold the Lord in glory!<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ol start=\"23\">\n<li>Once more is God descending!<br \/>\nToday let all creation<br \/>\nbeholding Him make merry.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ol start=\"24\">\n<li>Let us go forth, O people,<br \/>\nin haste to greet the Lord, who<br \/>\nis once again descending.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ol start=\"25\">\n<li>This day we may we all listen<br \/>\nto God as He is speaking<br \/>\nwith His all-spotless Mother.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ol start=\"26\">\n<li>Come now, sweetest Mother,<br \/>\nand enter with rejoicing<br \/>\nyour sweetest Son\u2019s glad presence.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ol start=\"27\">\n<li>Let your eyes behold now<br \/>\nyour Son who comes to take you<br \/>\nunto His own, O Mother.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ol start=\"28\">\n<li>\u201cI come to see the glory<br \/>\nof my Mother shining<br \/>\nbefore my Father\u2019s glory.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ol start=\"29\">\n<li>\u201cMy God,\u201d avows your Mother,<br \/>\n\u201cI glorify your mercy,<br \/>\nand utter loving kindness.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ol start=\"30\">\n<li>\u201cI glorify you, kneeling<br \/>\nbowed down, my Son, in worship<br \/>\nof your majestic glory.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ol start=\"31\">\n<li>Since You, who are the nearest<br \/>\nto me, from earth have risen<br \/>\nunto my Father draw near.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ol start=\"32\">\n<li>Enclosed are you, O Garden,<br \/>\nin which we will discover<br \/>\nThe Tree of Life Unending.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ol start=\"33\">\n<li>Sealed are you, O Fountain,<br \/>\nfrom which the streams of life pour<br \/>\nmost wondrously with sweetness.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ol start=\"34\">\n<li>\u201cMy lips shall sing the praises<br \/>\nof your divine dominion<br \/>\nMy son and sovereign Godhead.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><em>Glory to the Father and the Son and to the Holy Spirit.<\/em><\/p>\n<ol start=\"35\">\n<li>My God, who are three persons,<br \/>\nFather, Son, and Spirit,<br \/>\non all the world have mercy!<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><em>Both now and ever, and unto the ages of ages.
