These villages may look like they belong in fairy tales but they\u2019re real-life places.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Romania\u2019s remote northwestern region of Maramure\u0219 has a unique architectural style, where tall, tower-like wooden churches with shingled roofs dot the landscape.<\/p>\n

Incredibly, some of them are 400 years old.<\/p>\n

Several of these churches, built using local oak, are on the UNESCO World Heritage List.<\/p>\n
