Dumitru St\u0103niloae set up in Bucharest"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>The great Romanian theologian of the 20<sup>th<\/sup> century has now a museum in the heart of Bucharest, near kilometre zero.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The museum dedicated to Father St\u0103niloae was set up by the Old St George Parish and is located on the ground floor of the parish house in the courtyard of the place of worship.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" style=\"border: 0;\" tabindex=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/maps\/embed?pb=!1m18!1m12!1m3!1d299.4757773377509!2d26.104676985604495!3d44.43090984492411!2m3!1f0!2f0!3f0!3m2!1i1024!2i768!4f13.1!3m3!1m2!1s0x40b1ff3e6358b61f%3A0x2531a8a81eb43ed0!2sBiserica%20Sf%C3%A2ntul%20Gheorghe%20Vechi%20din%20Bucure%C8%99ti!5e0!3m2!1sro!2sro!4v1601917093231!5m2!1sro!2sro\" width=\"600\" height=\"150\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\" aria-hidden=\"false\" data-mce-fragment=\"1\"><span data-mce-type=\"bookmark\" style=\"display: inline-block; width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;\" class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Parish Priest Sorin Tanc\u0103u explained to Basilica.ro where the idea for the project came from and presented some important aspects regarding the usefulness of the museum.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The initiative to organize a parish museum started from the fact that the famous theologian lived for a long time in that space with his wife and daughter, Lidia, starting with 1947.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Father Tanc\u0103u emphasized that &#8220;the warm and friendly museum space, which brings to the fore the luminous face of the theologian appreciated throughout the Orthodox world, was made out of gratitude for the father&#8217;s missionary activity.&#8221;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_293558\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-293558\" style=\"width: 890px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-293558 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/basilica.ro\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/AGB_8146-890x594.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"890\" height=\"594\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-293558\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">&#8220;The time we face and fight, moment by moment, is nothing but the distance between God&#8217;s call and man&#8217;s answer!&#8221; &#8211; Fr. Photo: Basilica.ro \/ Radu Chiri\u0163\u0103.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&#8220;When the museum will be inaugurated, immediately after the Romanian society will overcome the pandemic period, it aims to host various book launches, theological discussions, courses and seminars for students, media shows, which evoke the theological personality of Father Dumitru St\u0103niloae, but also for the visits of the pilgrims,&#8221; said Fr. Tanc\u0103u.<\/p>\n<p>Currently, the parish is working on a virtual tour in images, as well as a short film, in several languages of international circulation, for the purpose of presentation for visitors.<\/p>\n<h4>Museum&#8217;s project<\/h4>\n<p>The arrangement of the museum began in the spring of 2019, at the expense of the parish, but with the support of a team of volunteers who began to transform the rooms, &#8220;into a place suitable for honouring the memory of the great theologian.&#8221;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_293566\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-293566\" style=\"width: 890px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-293566 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/basilica.ro\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/AGB_8086-890x594.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"890\" height=\"594\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-293566\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The arrangements continued with the bringing of museum furniture, manuscript frames, paintings and other decorative elements. Photo: Basilica.ro \/ Radu Chiri\u0163\u0103.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The archive images in which Father Dumitru St\u0103niloae is presented were a source of inspiration for the organization of the museum.<\/p>\n<p>The first room is arranged as we find Father Dumitru St\u0103niloae in most photos, in an interior with Romanian specifics, with a wall of wool woven during the war, surrounded by many traditional icons, painted on glass, typically Transylvanian, to help the visitor remember the saying of the father that: &#8220;nowhere is the sky bluer than in Vl\u0103deni,&#8221; his birthplace.<\/p>\n<p>The second room of the museum was designed as &#8220;a cultural space where one can admire original manuscripts of Father St\u0103niloae, donated by Mr Costion Nicolescu, along with the icon dear to the father &#8211; the Holy Trinity and the two great holy theologians translated and reinterpreted patristic: Saint Maximos the Confessor and Saint Gregory Palamas.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_293571\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-293571\" style=\"width: 890px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-293571 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/basilica.ro\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/AGB_8092-890x594.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"890\" height=\"594\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-293571\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">&#8220;Salvation is closely related to responsibility&#8221; &#8211; Fr. Photo: Basilica.ro \/ Radu Chiri\u0163\u0103.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h4>Father Dumitru St\u0103niloae<\/h4>\n<p>Father Dumitru St\u0103niloae was born on November 16, 1903, in Vl\u0103deni, Bra\u0219ov County.<\/p>\n<p>His theological work shows him as one of the most important Christian thinkers in the world, a father of twentieth-century Orthodoxy.
