The actor disclosed how attached he felt to the Church, his mother Vera being a priest\u2019s sister.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The actor confessed he spent his childhood in an environment where the Church fit perfectly.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI feel very attached to the Church, to priests, by having spent so much time at the monasteries in Pojor\u00e2ta, Sadova, C\u00e2mpulung Moldovenesc, Gura Humorului,\u201d he said. \u201cI would spend Christmas and Easter at Cajvana.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>His uncle, Orest Malcinschi, was the parish priest in the town of Cajvana, near Suceava city. \u201cHe was my father\u2019s closest friend,\u201d said the actor. \u201cCoincidence or not, Orest Malcinschi and my father married Father Pa\u0219canu\u2019s two sisters.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Florin Piersic remembers how, on Christmas, he couldn\u2019t wait to play the semantron at the church in Cajvana: \u201cThe very first thing I would do was announce the sexton: \u2018I\u2019m coming to play the semantron!\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/6dbbHYkDlkw\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\" data-mce-fragment=\"1\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cI pray to the Mother of God; I adore her,\u201d said Florin Piersic.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The actor also confessed his devotion towards Saint Paraskeva. He still keeps the icon of the saint in front of which his mother prayed when he was a child and fell seriously ill:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cAI was very ill and my mother spent the whole night with her icon\u2014which I have, I keep it all the time\u2014to which my mother prayed, saying: \u2018If you took away Lucica, please don\u2019t take little Florin as well!\u2019\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The actor is 84. His parents were from the northern-Romania region of Bucovina. He spent his childhood in Corlata, Pojor\u00e2ta, Cajvana and even Chernivtsi. When he fell ill, the family lived in the city of Sibiu, on 2 Hecht St.<\/p>\n<p>Florin\u00a0Piersic has appeared in more than 40 movies, as well as television roles. He is especially known for his leading roles in The White Moor and the Seria M\u0103rgelatu films. In 2006, he was voted 51st in a list of the 100 greatest Romanians, and in 2009, he was bestowed with the Lifetime Achievement Award in the Transylvania International Film Festival.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>The Romanian Orthodox Church celebrates St. Paraskeva of Ia\u0219i, the protectress of Moldavia,\u00a0 on October 14. Her whole relics repose in the Metropolitan Cathedral. Last year\u2019s feast saw over <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mediafax.ro\/social\/participare-record-la-iasi-o-posibila-explicatie-pentru-numarul-mare-de-pelerini-la-hramul-cuvioasei-parascheva-18459475\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">100,000 pilgrims<\/a> waiting in line over many days to pay homage to the saint.
