Patriarch Irinej of Serbia reposed in the Lord on Friday morning at 07:07 AM. He was hospitalized in the \u201cKaraburma\u201d Military Medical Center in Belgrade.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Patriarch Irinej was born on 28 August 1930 in Vidova near \u010ca\u010dak, in Serbia.<\/p>\n

In October 1959, after graduating the Orthodox Theology Faculty in Belgrade, Patriarch Germanos of Serbia tonsured him as a monk at Rakovica Monastery.<\/p>\n

On July 14, 1974 he was ordained to the Episcopate of Moravica and was appointed as Patriarchal Auxiliary Bishop.<\/p>\n

In 1975 he was elected Bishop of Nis and in January 2010 the Holy Synod of the Orthodox Church elected him Archbishop of Pe\u0107, Metropolitan of Belgrade-Karlovci and Patriarch of Serbia.<\/p>\n

The President of Serbia wrote on Instagram:<\/p>\n
