{"id":319012,"date":"2021-05-19T12:51:32","date_gmt":"2021-05-19T09:51:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/basilica.ro\/?p=319012"},"modified":"2021-05-19T12:51:32","modified_gmt":"2021-05-19T09:51:32","slug":"journalist-ioana-ciurlea-my-father-was-the-coolest-priest","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arhiva.basilica.ro\/en\/journalist-ioana-ciurlea-my-father-was-the-coolest-priest\/","title":{"rendered":"Journalist Ioana Ciurlea: \u201cMy father was the coolest priest\u201d"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>In an interview for life.ro, Journalist and Digi24 reporter Ioana Ciurlea spoke about her father, a priest for thirty years in Conop, Arad, and who passed away in September 2018.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Ioana Ciurlea confessed that as a child, she was determined to do journalism and that she looks like her father, \u201can expansive guy, who liked the presence of people, to be in the centre of attention, to be applauded.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy father was a priest, but a very cool one, who liked to be around people a lot, both on holidays and at meetings with friends. He was the centre of attention, and people simply adored him.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_318412\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-318412\" style=\"width: 800px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-318412 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/basilica.ro\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/WhatsApp-Image-2021-05-01-at-19.43.13-800x732-1.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"732\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-318412\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Ioana Ciurlea, with her parents and sister. Photo: life.ro<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>She said that she would never forget what her father, Priest Ioan-Sorin Ciurlea, advised her when she was afraid that she would not be accepted at the Faculty of Journalism.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI will remember until I die the day I enrolled at Journalism, I was thinking of trying to enrol at another faculty, but my father said to me: \u201cif you want journalism, you will definitely come here, why do you need another option?\u201d. \u201cAnd what do I do if I\u2019m not accepted?\u201d I replied. \u201cIf you don\u2019t get accepted, try next year, and you\u2019ll be accepted!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Another piece of advice she recalled from her father is to love life as it is and enjoy every day.<br \/>\n\u201cMy father often told me this, that you should act as if this day was the last.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy father was a strong man in every aspect, and his death came suddenly and disturbingly to us. (\u2026) I miss him a lot because he told me every day how proud he was of me and always encouraged me. We were close.
