His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel visited the cemetery of Cernica Monastery on Tuesday to officiate a memorial service at the tomb of one of his mentors, Father Dumitru Staniloae, marking the 28th anniversary of the repose of the great theologian proposed for canonization.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Romanian Patriarch also visited the graves of three Primate Metropolitans of the Romanian Orthodox Church buried in Cernica: Nifon Rus\u0103il\u0103, Athanasie Mironescu and Konon Ar\u0103mescu Donici. The Patriarch prayed for the rest of their souls and lit a candle at their tombs.<\/p>\n

The Patriarch of Romania bestowed Diplomas, and the Commemorative Medal of 2021 to those involved in the systematization and redevelopment works at Cernica Monastery\u2019s cemetery.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe thank those who contributed to the good organization and beautification of the cemetery. It is a cemetery full of special personalities in terms of the service of the Church and the culture of the nation,\u201d His Beatitude said October 5, 2021.<\/p>\n

Patriarch Daniel appreciated the map placed at the entrance to the cemetery indicating the tombs of representative personalities of the Orthodox Church.<\/p>\n
