The UN international observance calendar includes, on October 17, the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty. The most affected Romanians are children: one third live in poverty.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This year’s international observance has the theme “Ending Persistent Poverty, Respecting all People and our Planet”.<\/p>\n

World data show<\/a> that only this year the health crisis sent approximately 150 million people into poverty, adding to the 1,3 billion poor people already living in poverty – most of them in South Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa.<\/p>\n

In Romania, the most affected are children, especially those born in large families, because they do not benefit from supplementary support measures as they do in other states. The opening photo presents a family with nine children for whom Father Dan Damaschin<\/a>‘s Voice of Life association is building a house.<\/p>\n
