Located in Mills&#8217; Park, it is known as General Georgescu P. Ion&#8217;s Fountain.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>His Eminence Metropolitan Petru of Bessarabia blessed the monument dedicated to those who were killed in the basement of the Chi\u015fin\u0103u\u2019s former Italian Consulate in 1941. HE Daniel Ioni\u0163\u0103, Ambassador of Romania to Chi\u015fin\u0103u attended the event.<\/p>\n<p>The monument was restored based on archive photos from 1942.\u00a0&#8220;In 1937, the monument was in the same place, near the road leading to former Buiucani village, now one of Chi\u015fin\u0103u&#8217;s sectors,&#8221; explained, quoted by the Romanian Television TVR, Iulian Rusanovschi, the philanthropist who initiated the action.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The road passed through here on my right and, by looking at the 1942 maps, we decided to find the initial location of the fountain. It was 24 meters behind here, so we have decided to place it in this little square to make it more easily accessible,&#8221; said Iulian Rusanovschi.<\/p>\n<p>The monument was raised by the Monumentum Association and the Ia\u0219i branch of the Association of Romanian Christian Orthodox Students (ASCOR), with support from the Chi\u015fin\u0103u City Council and the Government of Romania.<\/p>\n<p>The monument also commemorates the heroes and the victims of Stalinist repression &#8211; Romanians killed in 1941 in the basement of the city\u2019s former Italian Consulate, also known as the former Marshal Badoglio House.
