His Eminence Metropolitan Andrei of Cluj offered seven pieces of practical advice for spiritual progress during Great Lent.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cOn March 7, 2022, we begin Lent. There has always been a need for prayer and fasting, especially now when there is war in Ukraine. We ask God to bring peace on earth,\u201d the Metropolitan of Cluj noted.<\/span><\/p>\n

Metropolitan Andrei listed seven exhortations and spiritual steps for Great Lent:<\/span><\/p>\n

  1. Prayer and fast<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. Divine Liturgy of Saint John Chrysostom and Saint Basil the Great (Saturdays and Sundays)<\/span><\/li>\n
  3. Vespers on Sunday and catechesis<\/span><\/li>\n
  4. Liturgy of the Presanctified Gifts (Wednesdays and Fridays)<\/span><\/li>\n
  5. The Mystery of Confession done properly<\/span><\/li>\n
  6. Bible reading<\/span><\/li>\n
  7. To all these, we add the fundraising for the Central Missionary Fund, done with incredible generosity, and the support of war refugees. We know the Apostle\u2019s word: \u201cEach of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver\u201d (2 Corinthians 9:7).<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    His Eminence concluded his message by wishing the faithful \u201ca peaceful and gracious Lent.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
