Special stamps have been issued<\/a> by Romfilatelia for Easter this year, with the design telling the story of Christ\u2019s Crucifixion and Resurrection painted at the beginning of the eighteenth century by Romanian iconographers.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The stamps see Christ on the cross and rising from the tomb in icons of the patrimony of Kretzulescu Church in Bucharest that dates back to 1722.<\/span><\/p>\n

Romfilatelia chose Kretzulescu Church for its Easter stamp issue because this year marks its 300th anniversary.<\/span><\/p>\n

The stamp of the imperforated souvenir sheet reproduces the image of the Entry of our Lord Jesus Christ into Jerusalem, a moment when \u201cJesus is praised as true King, only to be judged and condemned to death on a cross after a few days.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Romfilatelia released the stamps at post offices nationwide on March 22, 2022.<\/span><\/p>\n

The images are framed in a golden metallic border. The word \u201cPa\u0219ti 2022\u201d (Easter) appears in red lettering across the top.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cEaster is a feast of joy and hope. The candles lit on the night of the Resurrection drive away darkness and fear. Their light accompanies optimism and the moment’s emotion when from the hearts of millions of Christians resound:\u00a0<\/span>Christ is Risen!<\/span><\/em>\u00a0to which clearly, a divine echo responds:\u00a0<\/span>Indeed He is Risen!\u201d<\/span><\/em>\u00a0Romfilatelia wrote in its description of the stamp issue.<\/span><\/p>\n

Romfilatelia thanked His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel and the Romanian Orthodox Church for \u201cthe documentary support given to the development of this postage stamps issue.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
