The Special Telecommunications Service (STS) has added<\/a> new translations to the \u201cApel 112\u201d (\u201cCall 112\u201d) mobile application and, currently, it can be used in Romanian, English, French, German, Hungarian and Ukrainian. <\/strong><\/p>\n

In order to benefit from the new features, the application needs to be updated to the latest version, using Google Play or App Store.<\/p>\n

Following the collaboration started by STS with the mobile network operators, the message regarding the roaming service that the citizens receive when entering the Romanian territory will also include information about the possibility of using the \u201cApel 112\u201d mobile application available in 6 languages, in case of emergency.<\/span><\/p>\n

The updates were released to support people who do not speak Romanian and are in an emergency situation, offering them an intuitive, easy to use the menu in a language they know. After setting a language other than the language set by default upon installing the app, the language in which the phone is set, the menu and the location information are displayed according to the selected option.<\/span><\/p>\n

To select one of the 6 languages, the following steps are required:<\/span><\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Access the \u201cSettings\u201d menu and select the \u201cLanguage\u201d function;<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. Select the desired language for displaying navigation information. Subsequently, the menu will be configured automatically.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Please be reminded that the \u201cApel 112\u201d application allows the transmission of the location information of the device used for initiating the emergency call, in AML (Advanced Mobile Location) format, to the computer system of the 112 Emergency Service. The application uses the data connection (internet) and the location service of the mobile phone (GPS), only during the emergency call.<\/span><\/p>\n

    At the same time, the STS operators of the 112 Emergency Service receive and handle the calls of the citizens in several international languages as well as in the languages of national minorities.<\/span><\/p>\n

    So far, the \u201cCall 112\u201d application that can save lives in a critical situation has been downloaded over 600,000 times. It can be downloaded for free on any smartphone from\u00a0Google Play<\/a>\u00a0<\/span>and App Store.<\/a><\/p>\n
