{"id":362064,"date":"2022-04-01T15:37:53","date_gmt":"2022-04-01T12:37:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/basilica.ro\/?p=362064"},"modified":"2022-04-01T15:37:53","modified_gmt":"2022-04-01T12:37:53","slug":"priest-martyr-haralambie-balamace-prayerfully-remembered-in-albania-on-the-108th-anniversary-of-his-martyrdom","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arhiva.basilica.ro\/en\/priest-martyr-haralambie-balamace-prayerfully-remembered-in-albania-on-the-108th-anniversary-of-his-martyrdom\/","title":{"rendered":"Priest-martyr Haralambie Balamace prayerfully remembered in Albania on the 108th anniversary of his martyrdom"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>A commemorative event dedicated to the priest Haralambie Balamace took place on March 23, 2022, at the Church of the Transfiguration in Kor\u00e7\u00eb, Albania, where the Aromanian priest was killed 108 years ago.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">After a memorial service, the figure of the great hero who died defending the identity, freedom and dignity of Romanians in Albania was evoked by Vilma Cocea, vice-president of the Association of Romanians in Albania &#8211; Kor\u00e7\u00eb Branch, Pano Bakalli, president of the &#8220;Nicolae Iorga&#8221; Foundation in Sarand\u00eb and Professor Pandi Bello, the news portal arumun.com reports.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Wreaths were laid at the bust of Father Haralambie Balamace,\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/basilica.ro\/en\/bust-of-romanian-priest-martyred-on-pascha-unveiled-in-albania\/?swcfpc=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">erected<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0last year by the Nicolae Iorga Foundation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Father Haralambie Balamace and all the Macedo-Romanian martyrs from the Balkans were also commemorated on March 23 at Mavrogheni Church in Bucharest.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" style=\"border: none; overflow: hidden;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/post.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Fpermalink.php%3Fstory_fbid%3D1650493858618834%26id%3D184045761930325&amp;show_text=true&amp;width=500\" width=\"500\" height=\"743\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\" data-mce-fragment=\"1\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<h3>Priest-martyr Haralambie Balamace<\/h3>\n<p>Priest Haralambie Balamace played a crucial role in developing Romanian language education among the Macedo-Romanians of Epirus and Albania and the ecclesiastical emancipation of the Romanians in the Balkans.<\/p>\n<p>Father Haralambie was killed on Easter night (March 23, 1914) because he celebrated the Divine Liturgy in Romanian.
