His Grace Bishop Sofronie chaired the synaxis of the superiors of monastic settlements in the Diocese of Oradea on Saturday, May 14.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The spring session of the synaxis took place at Izbuc Monastery, the oldest monastic hermitage hearth in the Diocese.<\/p>\n

In his opening speech, the Bishop of Oradea referred to the solemn and commemorative themes of 2022 in the Romanian Patriarchate. He said that we have \u201can ideal time to reflect on the importance of peace and cordiality between peoples, two coordinates based on the unconditional recognition of every human being.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bishop Sofronie highlighted that “the real war that man has to fight is an invisible one against his own selfishness and inner shortcomings, as self-idolatry and excessive concern for comfort are two of the main battlefronts of contemporary man.”<\/p>\n

Archimandrite Atanasie Paleu, a spiritual father at the “Holy Cross” Monastery in Oradea, offered a lecture on “Prayer in the life of the Church and the Christian life.”<\/p>\n

At the end of the meeting, His Grace Bishop Sofronie and the superiors of the monastic settlements in the Diocese visited the construction site of a new church dedicated to the Translation of the Relics of Saint George to Lydda and a pastoral-cultural centre named after Saint Sophrony of Jerusalem, Saint Silouan the Athonite and Saint Sophrony of Essex.<\/p>\n
