The monastery is located near the cell where the venerable woman lived in fasting, prayer and asceticism.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The feast of Saint Theodora of Sihla is celebrated in the Romanian Orthodox Church on August 7, after the feast of the Transfiguration of the Lord.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_377426\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-377426\" style=\"width: 2048px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/basilica.ro\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/priveghere-de-toata-noaptea-la-manastirea-sihla-30-de-an-de-la-canonizarea-sf-cuv-teodora-foto-1.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-377426 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/basilica.ro\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/priveghere-de-toata-noaptea-la-manastirea-sihla-30-de-an-de-la-canonizarea-sf-cuv-teodora-foto-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"2048\" height=\"1256\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-377426\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">To mark the 30th anniversary of the canonization of St. Theodora, an all-night vigil service was held at Sihla Monastery on Monday, 20 June 2022. Leonard Dumitru Militaru<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The resolution to canonize Saint Theodora was approved by the Holy Synod on June 20, 1992, and made public by the Synodal Decree of June 21, 1992, which generalized the veneration throughout the Romanian Patriarchate of 62 Romanian saints or other saints who laboured in Romania.<\/p>\n<p>By the same Decree, the Sunday of the Romanian Saints was established, celebrated on the second Sunday after the Descent of the Holy Spirit (Pentecost).<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_377428\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-377428\" style=\"width: 2048px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/basilica.ro\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/priveghere-de-toata-noaptea-la-manastirea-sihla-30-de-an-de-la-canonizarea-sf-cuv-teodora-foto-4.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-377428 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/basilica.ro\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/priveghere-de-toata-noaptea-la-manastirea-sihla-30-de-an-de-la-canonizarea-sf-cuv-teodora-foto-4.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"2048\" height=\"1370\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-377428\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo: Fr. Leonard Dumitru Militaru<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The beginnings of the Sihla hermitage are lost in the mists of history before the year 1200. The first written mention of the Sihla hermitage dates from 1326.<\/p>\n<p>The Sihla Skete was founded in 1731.
