His Eminence Archbishop Calinic of Arge\u0219 and Muscel celebrated the Divine Liturgy at Robaia Monastery on Sunday\u2019s feast day of Saint Paphnutius the Iconographer.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The previous day, the feast of the Transfiguration of the Lord marked the fifth anniversary of the proclamation of the Saint\u2019s canonization.<\/p>\n

\u201cHow can God not protect this country with so many saints who prayed, who painted, who left us these extraordinary treasures, these windows to the Kingdom of God?\u201d Archbishop Calinic said, referring to the life of Saint Paphnutius of Robaia.<\/p>\n

The patronal feast ended with a memorial service for all the reposed monks of Robaia Monastery.<\/p>\n

The Venerable Paphnutius Parvu, the Iconographer of Robaia, is known as the most significant Romanian church painter of the Cantacusin and Brancovan epoch, a founder and teacher of a school of Byzantine iconography with national specificity who experienced Orthodoxy deeply.<\/p>\n

For his virtuous life and achievements, the Holy Synod of the Romanian Orthodox Church listed him among the Saints in 2017, a Solemn Year of the Holy Icons, Iconographers, and Church Painters in the Romanian Patriarchate.<\/p>\n
