{"id":392422,"date":"2022-09-28T10:19:20","date_gmt":"2022-09-28T07:19:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/basilica.ro\/?p=392422"},"modified":"2022-09-28T10:19:20","modified_gmt":"2022-09-28T07:19:20","slug":"patriarch-daniel-urges-support-for-rural-dwellers-many-romanian-villages-are-almost-deserted","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arhiva.basilica.ro\/en\/patriarch-daniel-urges-support-for-rural-dwellers-many-romanian-villages-are-almost-deserted\/","title":{"rendered":"Patriarch Daniel urges support for rural dwellers: Many Romanian villages are almost deserted"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel lamented the situation of villages in Romania and urged support for the inhabitants of rural settlements.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u201cWe particularly pray that Christ the Lord will give His help and blessing to all the inhabitants of villages, and may we who live in the cities help the inhabitants of the villages according to our possibilities,\u201d the Patriarch of Romania said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">His Beatitude\u2019s remarks were made on Sunday, Sept. 25, in the chapel of his Patriarchal Residence.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Patriarch Daniel added: \u201cUnfortunately, many Romanian villages are almost deserted due to the emigration of many Romanians abroad, but also because life in the village is often more difficult, as there are not always all the necessary things for a decent life.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">His Beatitude\u2019s appeal to support the rural dwellers was made on the Day of the Romanian Village.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Romanian Village Day is celebrated on the last Sunday of September.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The Patriarch of Romania has spoken on numerous occasions about the value and state of the Romanian village and has made concrete <a href=\"https:\/\/basilica.ro\/en\/patriarch-daniels-7-proposals-to-improve-current-situation-of-romanias-villages\/?swcfpc=1\">proposals<\/a> for its revitalization:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Twinning programs between generous urban parishes and poor parishes in rural areas.
