Today, 6 January 2013, feast of the Baptism of the Lord, His Beatitude Daniel, Patriarch of Romania, celebrated the consecration service of the High Holy Water, assisted by a group of priests and deacons, in the presence of thousands of faithful. <\/p>\n
“This religious service is celebrated only twice a year, on the Eve of the Epiphany and on the Epiphany day. This consecration of the water is very rich in spiritual meanings, as well as in the beauty of the prayers, especially the Great Prayer by Saint Sofronie, Patriarch of Jerusalem. This service refreshes in us the joy to be Christians, to be baptised, to be immersed in the love of the Father, of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit”, said His Beatitude as Trinitas TV informs us. <\/p>\n
His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel reminded the faithful how and when to have the High Holy Water: “The High Holy Water is drunk eight days in the run, in the morning, before breakfast, before the holy bread. In general, the holy bread is eaten before the holy water. But now, it is drunk every day, from this day forward, first the High Holy Water, before the holy bread. Why eight and not seven? That is because through the Baptism we are led to the eternal life, in the love, light, blessing, and peace of the Most Holy Trinity. Eight is the figure of eternity, in the spiritual meaning of the Fathers of the Church. It is the figure of eternity and infinite. This means that the blessing received through the Baptism and the High Holy Water is a blessing which does not refer only to the earthly life, namely to be happy here, on the earth, but it is also a blessing as a foretaste of the joy in the Kingdom of God, of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit”.<\/p>\n
As every year, an ice cross was set in the yard of the Patriarchal Cathedral, bedecked with fir branches, flowers and basil. This year 24 barrels of 12,000 l of water were prepared, after consecration, which was offered to the faithful present at the Patriarchal Cathedral, on the occasion of the feast of the Baptism of the Lord. <\/p>\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
