March 1927 – Priest, poet and translator MORARIU CONSTANTIN passed away<\/p>\n
in Cern\u0103u\u021bi – photo – (born on 5 May 1854, in Mitocu Dragomirnei, <\/p>\n
county of Suceava). Studies at the Secondary School in Sucevi\u021ba (1866 – <\/p>\n
1874) and at the Faculty of Theology of Cern\u0103u\u021bi (1874 – 1878). Priest <\/p>\n
in Topor\u0103u\u021bi (1878 – 1885), Cern\u0103u\u021bi (1886 – 1896) and P\u0103tr\u0103u\u021bi (1896 – <\/p>\n
1917), metropolitan counsellor in Cern\u0103u\u021bi (1918 – 1926); militant for <\/p>\n
the rights of the Romanians in Bucovina. He collaborated with many <\/p>\n
Romanian newspapers of the time: “Familia” (Oradea city), “Convorbiri <\/p>\n
literare” and “Via\u021ba Rom\u00e2neasc\u0103” (Ia\u0219i city), “Glasul Bucovinei” and <\/p>\n
“Candela” in Cern\u0103u\u021bi city, “Neamul Rom\u00e2nesc” in Bucharest etc.; he <\/p>\n
edited the “De\u0219teptarea” newspaper in Cern\u0103u\u021bi city all by himself, in <\/p>\n
which he published poems, historical, literary, pedagogical and <\/p>\n
economical articles, brochures with historical, theological and <\/p>\n
missionary character.<\/p>\n
