17 March 1917 – ZORICA TEODOSIA LA\u021aCU, nun, poetess and translator, was born in Mezotur, Hungary. Secondary school studies at Bra\u0219ov (1928 – 1936) and at the Faculty of Philology (classic languages) of the University of Cluj (1936 – 1940). Preparatory teacher at the Institute of Linguistics of Cluj – Sibiu (since 1941), working for the Dictionary of the Romanian Academy and for the bibliography of “Dacoromania” magazine. In 1948, she became a nun at Vladimire\u0219ti Monastery, and in 1955 was excluded from monasticism by the communist authorities, just like many other monks and nuns. She was imprisoned in the communist prisons from 1956 – 1959; after she was released, she lived in Gurguie\u021bi, county of Br\u0103ila, from 1970 in Bra\u0219ov, and in 1990 she came back to Vladimire\u0219ti Monastery re-established at the time. Works. She published several volumes of religious poems: The White Island (1944); Poems of Love (1949); Poems (1999 and a complete edition in 2000). Other religious poems in: “G\u00e2ndirea” (Bucharest), “Telegraful Rom\u00e2n” and “\u00cendrum\u0103torul bisericesc” at Sibiu.
