The participation on the Palm Sunday pilgrimage represents the participation of the faithful in the life of the Church. His Beatitude Daniel, Patriarch of the Romanian Orthodox Church shows in the book entitled “Hunger and Thirst of God – Meaning and Utility of Fasting” (Basilica publishing house of the Romanian Patriarchate, Bucharest, 2010 pages 180 – 181), that “the icons and flowers taken in procession symbolise the light and virtues gathered in the souls through the fasting efforts. The spiritual utility of the pilgrimage can be expressed in simple words: a procession of faith confession, strengthening the parishes in fraternity, a sign of freedom and of the desire to find holiness, an opportunity to meditate on our life as a passage, an anticipation of the Holy Easter, a blessing for the city and a joy of Christian feast”. <\/p>\n
Palm Sunday pilgrimage is organised for the sixth time in the Archdiocese of Bucharest, first initiated in 2008. Similar pilgrimages are organised on “Lasarus’ Saturday” in all the eparchies of the country. <\/p>\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
This year, the pilgrimage organised in Bucharest on the occasion of the Lord’s entry in Jerusalem will begin Saturday, 27 April 2013, 15.00 hours, with the Vesper service celebrated on the platform of the Cathedral for the Nation’s Salvation (or at the patriarchal chapel of the “Resurrection of the Lord” if raining).
