13 August 1893 – Archimandrite ANDRONIC POPOVICI (baptised Andrei Badea), historian and copyist passed away at the New Neam\u021b Monastery. He joined Neam\u021b Monastery while a young man (1931), became a monk in 1839, ordained hieromonk (1850), father confessor (1853) and archimandrite (1890). He was abbot of Sih\u0103stria Monastery (1861), then of Secu. In 1864, he set up the New Neam\u021b Monastery (Chi\u021bcani), county of Tighina, which he ran as an abbot. Although a self-taught man, he copied a large number of historical books and wrote The History of the Holy Monasteries of Neam\u021b and Secu, in brief (Neam\u021b, 1857) and Short history for the beginning of Christianity and of the hierarchy of Moldova (Neam\u021b, 1864). <\/p>\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
