The meeting was also attended by Mr. Viorel Badea, senator for the Romanians in Europe and Asia, Vice-President of the <em>Commission for Romanians abroad<\/em> from the Romanian Senate.<em><\/p>\n<p><\/em>Mayor Rubeis thanked for reception and presented various social, educational and spiritual aspects of the everyday lives of the approximately 12,000 Romanians living in the Guidonia Montecelio City and surroundings. He said that the local authorities pay special attention to the Romanians&#8217; integration into the local community and their children&#8217;s education. In this sense, the mayor emphasized the good cooperation with the local parish priest fr. Sebastian Cosma and with His Grace Bishop Siluan of Italy regarding the integration of Romanians in the Italian society.<\/p>\n<p>His Beatitude thanked the mayor for his support of the City of Guidonia Montecelio authorities for the Orthodox Romanians and especially for providing a plot of land of 1,200 square meters to build a place of Orthodox worship.<\/p>\n<p>The Patriarch of Romania stressed the need to preserve national identity and spiritual traditions by the Romanians living in Italy along with their integration into the Italian society.
