On 5 December 3013, at the Patriarchal Residence, His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel received in presentation visit His Excellency Mr. Joao Bernardo Weinstein, Ambassador of Portugal to Romania.<\/p>\n
The ambassador thanked for reception and emphasized that the approximately forty thousand Romanian officially registered in Portugal have integrated well into the Portuguese society. On the other hand, he noted that several Romanians were deceived by some profiteers who have asked for money by promising them jobs.<\/p>\n
His Excellency asked the Patriarch of Romania that through the Romanian Orthodox parishes in Portugal Romanians be informed and made \u00e2\u20ac\u2039\u00e2\u20ac\u2039aware of the risks of accepting job offers with unclearcontractual conditions mediated by unknown persons.<\/p>\n
His Beatitude Daniel congratulated the Ambassador at the start of his diplomatic mission in Romania and expressed gratitude for the attention of the Portuguese authorities towards the Romanians settled in this country of the Iberian Peninsula. In this context, the Romanian Patriarch mentioned the care and efforts of the Romanian Orthodox Episcopate of Spain and Portugal, led by His Grace Bishop Timotei Lauran, in the integration of the Romaniansin the Portuguese society. His Beatitude asked the Portuguese Ambassador to Bucharest to help the Romanian Orthodox Episcopate in his country for its official recognition.<\/p>\n
During the meeting they have discussed also different aspects of the poverty phenomenon, migration, unemployment and cooperation between authorities and religious denominations in order to overcome the difficulties arising from the current economic crisis affecting many European citizens.<\/p>\n
